I'm very pleased with the results from this camera, which I've been using for a couple of weeks. I prefer AA NiMH cells to lithium-ion batteries, being readily available wherever I travel. To date the battery usage has been good - I'm still on my first charge despite playing around with the menus etc. a lot in addition to taking photos and viewing them. I have big hands and have had to develop the correct grip to use the camera, but it's probably better in this regard than the really compact ...

If you are knowledgeable of photography beyond the basics and would like a little more control in shooting and; are looking for a simple family camera; and like or already own other Sony cameras - this is the one to get. Well built. But the image quality is not nearly as good when compared to larger Zeiss lenses on the "enthusiast" level R, H, and F series by Sony. (But these are big cameras compared to the deck of card size F-7.) It would be nice if it had true full manual controls. It only ...

Great camera for the price. It's a bit small for my big hands but I'm very happy with the overall quality of this camera . My first digital, I've been using a Canon A-1 and Minolta SRT 101 for many years. Problems: The only problem was with shipping from COMP USA. The camera was shipped in it's original box inside another box twice it's size without packing material. The outer box was crushed in places. How it made it in one piece and still operate properly is amazing.

I got the DSC-W7 about two days ago. This is a nice camera. I had the DSC-S90 a 4.1 Megapixel for 4 hours. I discover that I could buy the DSC-W7 for $303.74 at Comp USA sale where it was on a special sale at 5% above cost. I really wanted the 7.2 Megapixel. The USB and AV cable is on the side where as DSC-S90 is on the bottom with a specal USB & A/V Cable combo. I have a 60GB iPod Video and I sync the DSC-W7 up to it with no problems. I have the Epson CX7800 I connected the camera to it's ...

Very easy to handle - just the right size Very big LCD screen, but will purchase a protector to keep it in good condition Excellent battery life So far so good on image quality Very strong flash Problems: LCD Screen a bit hard to see in bright light UPDATE: The LCD screen, the macro mode and image quality has caused me to return this camera. It is a fine point and shoot, but I did end up returning it.

negative- Autofocus keeps refocusing during moviemode, very irritating. And time between shots when in forcedflash mode, is still too long. positive- Very sharp pictures. It is possible to crop shots very much and still get a sharp photo. flash is strong and illuminates wide. battery time using 2300 panasonic batteries extreme! Problems: autofocus when in moviemode

Well built. Takes nice videos (although W7 successor should incorporate image stab and MPEG-4). Good image quality. M setting for choosing aperture and speed. Strong flash (and also with adjustable intensity). Mem Stick Pro can be used instantly in my Vaio for downloading of photos and videos - very convenient not having to use cables for downloading. 2 x rech. AAs an advantage - they last long and if you ran out of battery power you can buy alcaline ones anywhere. Included SONY charger ...

Excellent piece of electronic engineering ! A great winner from Sony. Have had the W 7 for 3 months and more than 1000 snaps later can say with great confidence that its a great buy. However the user needs to invest time in getting to understand the camera and all its behaviours (!) to get some outstanding results.Treat it well and it responds in kind.Have noticed some early users crying about its blurriness, soft images etc.I have had none of the problems. There could be the one odd defective ...
