I've used the DSC-W350 for a year and it is a really great camera. 14.1 megapixels give you sharp images like portraits and landscapes in good conditions. It's small and lightweight, is very nicely designed, and has an easy menu for adjusting while in manual mode. It is surprisingly good at macro for it's price range, and is better than many other compacts that I have come across. Very good for a first camera, it will get you interested into photography. It has some interesting and creative features, more than a normal compact camera. It works very well in every situation but not in low light conditions without flash, because pictures are grainy. It was purchased for my father and ease of use was paramount. I am not disappointed. Compared to my own F200EXR, OSS, exposure and AWB are better. F200EXR seems to have the edge on face detection but I have not used the Sony long enough to tell for certain. Overall the build quality is good and nowhere near as poor as some might suggest. I shoot for a newspaper magazine. okay i bought a Nikon P-100, didn't work! Then a Sony w-370, sorry, not cool! Then I bought the Sony w-350, tiny little camera! Excellent! Everything is cool, all the features are great. No it's not an Alpha but it cost $200 and it rocks. As a back up to my Alpha it is so much better than any P&S I have ever used.
