I just purchased the W200 and still have my Sony DSC-V3 7.2 MP camera. I was expected that technology had come a long way since purchasing my last Sony almost four years ago. I was faced with a choice of the Sony W200 or the Kodak V1253 which is 12MP and also does 1280x720P video. While in the store the screen of the Kodak was wide (3.1") but camera quality and image quality seemed to be lacking. Video recording at 720P was nice. The screen on the Sony seemed bright and the interface was ...

this is a followup to my review of the Sony W200 after taking approximately 700 photos. Problems: The function wheel is right under your thumb and has virtually no detent so what ever you are doing the wheel will move from where you set it and that will result in bad photos. I have had to paste tape on mine to keep it in position. Photos taken indoors with artificial light will have a strong yellow cast and you need editing software to correct it sufficiently. You can get some good photos ...

I made a big mistake to purchase this one for supplement to my Canon G6 for two reasons: form factor and larger photo size. In the past, I was avoiding to by Sony product due to its expensive Memory Stick Medium. It seems my avoidance of Sony Digital Camera is justified after two weeks to try on the DSC W200. All the advertised features: anti-blur technology, face detection, ISO 1600 never realized. Pictures are blurred in 95% of the time even the face detection technology and anti blur ...

After dropping my P150 I bought this one. Very nice camera with interesting features. (Face detection, in camera retouch, slideshow with music) Photo quality is extremely good when shooting in day light. Problems: But camera has a serious ISO problem. It's incapable of exposing shots at ISO 100 that most snapshot cameras can handle without problem. We need to boost iso to 400 or higher and that brings out very high artifacts (noise) and unsharp pictures like cheap cameras do. Test it: Take a ...

When taking landscape photos with the W200, I found that, if you just want to print 6 x 4 inch photos, the results are reasonable. But when I enlarged my 12mp photos to A3 size, my pictures lacked clarity and detail and looked a bit blotchy, rather like an oil painting. I have learned that with small compact cameras, it may be better to get a 6mp or 7mp camera that has larger pixels than those on a 12mp camera that crams 12mp on to a relatively small sensor. The larger the pixels, the more ...

I found the image quality to be excellent in all modes. It has a very good macro feature that gets you in real close. This camera is jam packed with workable scene modes that give great pictures. I shoot mostly in P mode so I can change the ISO, focus, exposure etc.. I have taken pictures that I can easily use for large prints. The body construction is excellent and easily fits in a pocket. If you take the time to study the manual that sony gives you on disk, you will get good results. I ...

Pros: Easy to capture amazing pictures, Adjustment Capabilities in Manual Mode, SMART ZOOM!, Small Slick and Sleek Design, Burst Shooting Mode, Adjustable Flash Intensity, IMAGE STABILZATION! Hey Everyone! I was somewhat disillusioned when reading the CNET's review for this camera, but I am quite an investigative shopper and had to see for myself. So, after spending over 3 hours at my local electronics supplier (remaining nameless) I actually decided on the W200. I was mainly comparing this ...

got hold of it for a week end cause a customer gave it back. he complained about softness in the corners. we sent it back to sony but they didn't repair it and said there was nothing wrong with it. so i tried it myself and used it over the weekend. i took hundrets of shots in different situation. colors and saturation was quiet well on most of the pictures. but there was much softness on the whole right site of the images. overall the sharpness was not good. compared to the w90 the images ...
