I wrote a review under the username "Mikelis", which name I unaccountably lost due to some cyberglitch. I just wanted to say that after all this time the Sony DSC w-100 is still my go-to camera if I want to be sure of getting some excellent shots of my family, life, and times. I have, also, mastered the knack of "prefocusing" and then waiting for "the moment" to capture the action or expression, thus overcoming the frequent criticism levelled at digicams that the shutter lag is too long. ...

This was my first digital camera. I have owned & used several "film" cameras -including Brownie Box, Minolta SR-1, Minolta range finder, Minolta Compact "C160", Canon EOS630, EOS 50, and the Pentax MZ50. I have had the DSC100 since early January 2007. Once you read the manual through (camera in hand) several times (there's little or no "redundancy" in the manual) the operation is little more than point and shoot. However, it is a very good point and shoot, wiith really excellent results ...

great camera, have been using it for about 1 year. I'm very happy with this camera. Problems: ok, here's a very annoying problem. I'm NOT sure if other W100 owners have it as well. Sometimes, the camera changes modes by itself while i take pictures. Usually between Manual and Auto, back and forth. I think it is because that the dial wheel gets sensitive or something. When the dial feels pressure around, it will change mode by itself. It does not happen very often, but when it does, it gets ...

The DSC-W100 has 'great looks' like most Sony compacts. Picture quality is clean with vibrant colors when lighting is strong. The movie mode isn't fantastic though (see my other review regarding the Casio Ex-V7 which has excellent movie mode). The movie mode has noticeable artifacts, unfortunately. The best thing about the W100 is the build-quality. I have the silver version which feels and looks great. Noise at high ISOs very noticeable though. The camera is more suitable for daylight and ...

edited got my second one. fantastic wow when the focus is in line its like a tiny f828 without the zoom, what great color! this is my favorite consumer camera right now or close here is previous reviw . its ok, got to play with one .. For me its a bit less likeable then the w7 in my eyes but there is no science to my analogy The zoom is low and the lens opening is tiny ( I can give you a way to tell but no one asked lol and the small Sonys are all that way) and thus any movement indoor ...

This is my second digital camera, and was bought specifically for a trip to Israel and Europe. Picture quality is phenominal -- bright and sharp, well saturated, and pleasing to view. The camera, with one exception, is extremely easy to use. There is a variety of optional image modes, etc. but I generally left the camera on full -- programmed and was happy with the results (adding fill-in flash for harsh lighting). The battery lasted for hours on one charge, and I really didn't need my ...

Great little camera, compact but solid feeling. Great response times, amazing how much camera one can buy with $350 nowadays. Only 2 things I can think of to improve it: 1) Image Stabilization/SteadyShot - Almost all Panasonic Lumix cameras now come with it, why can't this top-of-the-line Sony W series? If it hadn't been for the lack of Optical Viewfinders (yes, I'm old school) on the Panasonics I would have purchase one of them instead. 2) 4.5 hour battery charge time??? That is ...

After getting a stupid "Konica Minolta X!1", i am planning to get a new ultra compact camera again. This time a lot of homwork is being done. So read a lot of preview and finally there are 4 camera on my top lists. 1) sony w100 2) canon ixus 800 3) fujifilm F30 4) panasonix Fx01 But from preview i can say, all the review by user are from user that only bought a type of camera and never really tested on other. So how accurate will the review be. So i went out to the nearest cam shop and took ...

Sony new W100, nicer face lift and a few more function added to the camera with a major increase in megapixel up to 8.1. Surely people will find the megapixel attractive and nothing else on the camera. When I first came in contact with this thing at the store I play with it for a while and find some of the chracteristic on this thing un attractive. The Design and construction is unthinkable, 8.1 is a nice bargain but the thickness is not. This thing is double what the Sony T7 has to offer. :P ...
