Great 2nd camera. I usually take pictures of our out of town trips with an Oly 720 uz, and pics I take usually come out nice. However, when I hand the camera over for someone to take a pic of me, it usually comes out less than good. Focusing and exposure is usually the problem...so I end up with one picture or two of myself...for the weekend trip, which isn't focused properly or with a bad exposure. With a tiny camera such as the Sony U20 which is simple to operate, I can now be assured I ...

When this camera first cam into the shop I thought to myself "Looks cool, shame about the picture quality" This was before i saw the picture quality however. For a 2MP camera it takes a supriseingly good image in poorly litconditions and in brightly lit sorroundings there is little blooming around sharp lines. Sure its got no zoom but look at the size. Its well easy to use and ideal for the clubber who wants to be able to embarrass there mates. The guy before mentioned to get the pentax optio ...

Come on Guys! It is for sure that the camera is not the best one on the market. But look at its size. For this size it is a very good camera. You can take it anywhere, anytime. It is this camera's purpose. If you want a good quality, spend more and get a better camera, that is bigger and bulky. There is one more option though; Check out the new Pentax Optio S. It is a credit card size machine that is 3.2 megapixels and has 3X optical zoom. It is the best deal right now on the market. If I ...

I had a Olympus C4000 and found it quite bulky, even though it has excellent features. So, I bought myself a Sony DSC U20 after comparing with other ultra compact cameras. Initially, I was afraid its 2 megapixels might give lousy pictures but I was pleasantly surprised when they turned out to be quite good. Now it stays in my pocket all the time, and I have taken more shots with it than with my C4000. The only drawback is the small LCD screen, which makes it so difficult to review what ...

This review takes into consideration that a camera as small as the Sony U20 cannot have all the features of a larger camera nor will it's pictures be as good. If I compare it with my Olympus D40, 4 megapixel camera it falls short. Having said that, the U20 has the advantage of its' extremely small size - I can take it everywhere! It uses AAA nimh batteries which are inexpensive and last quite well in the U20. Start-up to first picture is quite fast. Shutter lag is also excellent. The ...

Bought this camera for £230 from www.parkcameras.co.uk. This price included a 128Mb Sony Memory stick, so was a veritable bargain. I previously owned a Canon Powershot G1 (3.3Mp) with IBM Microdrive since it was first released. I've recently rekindled my love for SLRs and film, with a new Canon EOS300v on the way, so I really didn't need a high end cam for creativity and great images. It was time to sell. So my requirement was a smaller camera that I could take with me anywhere without ...

Ever miss a photo opportunity because you didn't have your "main" camera? I got tired of that, but I was also tired of trying to lug my DSC-F707 everywhere. There had to be a solution. Enter this little Sony. I've now made it a habit to keep this camera charged up and with me everywhere I go. I can't begin to tell you how many times in just the last month I've used it to get "the shot" I wanted. The only time I leave it at home is when I know I'll be taking photos, and bring the 707 instead. ...

I don't agree with other people that the image quality is not good enough... The colors are very vivid and even too close pictures are very clear! the batteries gives you about 120+ shoots and the little charger gives you the ability to carry it any time, anywhere.. Very good camera ! very small size.... very good battery life.. Problems: The "red eye reduction" don't seems to work very good ... Some pictures are not so good due to red eyes even with the red eye reduction ON! :(

I have to agree with the opinion expressed here that the image quality of this little Sony is just not good enough. The main problem is noise. I have to use NeatImage on almost any shot I intend to keep, and usually extensive PhotoShop work is required to get lighting, sharpness and other aspects up to viewable standards. I think Sony must have hurried this one through the production process, or figured it would be bought by people so impressed with its small size that they wouldn't care ...
