I still consider this camera to be one of the best in its class. I have had it shortly after it was launched in 2001 and it has never disapointed me. I've even started using it for digiscoping purposes. For the latter purpose I use it in conjunction with various add-on lenses such as the EagleEye OpticZoom lens, etc. I recommend this camera to anyone who is still able to purchase one. Problems: Whilst reviewing photos the camera electronics sometimes behaves a little eratic i.e. jumps from ...

Took lousy pictures, I even sent it into Sony for repair and as far as I can tell they didn't touch it. Brought it back to the store I bought it and had them check the settings and had them take some photos -- they were no better. On my own, I tried ALL the settings... color was bad, many were blurry (and yes, I know how to take photos) I was told that is how this model is suppose to take photos -- well, we went back to our 35 mm to get good shots and are looking for a new digital now, but I ...

This was my first digital camera and I have been impressed w/ the ease of use and quality of photos, even when enlarging up to 16"x24". This camera was a good first step into digital photography, but it has only made me want more. I've added a wide-angle and telephoto lense to my collection, but think that if I am going to do some serious, amateur photography, I will need to step up to the next level. Overall, a good camera for the money, but more for the recreational user vs. the ...

One year and counting... and I still love using it. I think all the pro and cons have been discussed in here already. The most annoying thing to me personally is the off-centered tripod mount. It just looks wierd on a normal tripod, but the camera is REALLY awkward on a "mini" tripod. I have only found one that will remain standing once I mount the camera =) Problems: No

Awesome!!! It really worth it. Sharp images with accurate colors in most condition, full-featured and the most important: full manual and automatic control. A wider range optical zoom and faster internal bus would be great. Its 320x240 HQ movie is better than new P-10 and P-92's 640x480 VX, due to Carl-Zeiss lenses. Flash light supersedes most cameras I've tested. Battery life outstanding. Problems: None

I bought my DSC S85 for £399 which I felt was very good value for a 4 mega pixel camera. This camera benifits emensely from its Carl Zeiss lens, which produces very sharp images, however it could do with a larger zoom of around 5x - 6x instead its average 3x. The image quality is very good and the macro setting is also good, being able to focus at a distance of 4cm. The battery life is also exellent and this is backed up by a very accurate indication of the state of the batterys charge which ...

I bought it when it was onsale at 399.99 the battery life is good. The picture quanlity is outstanding, especially outdoor pictures. At ISO 400 the has no noise. good night pictures with a tripod. Problems: The start time. indoor picture is extremely dark, you can only use a tripod with a longer 1sec. or 2sec. expose time to get a normal look picture. And all the indoor pictures are looks red. The focus is not very good, sometimes the pic are not clear. The accessory is too expensive than the ...

Outstanding camera - had nothing but great experience with it - very good still pictures. Plenty of features allow camera full automatic to full user manual control. Two things could be improved though. A wider range optical zoom and improved movie quality. Movies seem a little grainy and jumpy. Also, zoom is disabled while movie is recording. I would buy this camera again.
