Purchased the S70 this weekend and have been using it constantly. This is my first digital camera and the ease of use, & quality are great. As a beginner to digital but not to photography this is a great camera Problems: Manual could have been a little more informative but nothing that could not be worked through.

This is my second dc (first was a Mavica) and I am extremely pleased with the features and quality of the S70. I never thought I would be able to get 35mm quality out of a dc this soon. Problems: Be careful to take off the lens cap BEFORE you turn on the S70 in any mode other than play. I always get an error message. This takes a little remembering and getting used to. Also, in macro mode I have found it best NOT to use the optical viewfinder, but instead use the LCD to compose your ...

The DSC-S70 is my 5th digital camera. Kodak DC40, Kodak DC50, Fuji DS300, Sony DSC-F505 are the predecessors. All of them had their pro's and con's at their time. After two weeks with S70: blows away F505 (which I used for a year): with flash no dark corners; ac adapter and USB port on opposite ends of camera for easier downloading; optical lens; longer MPEG movie mode (15 secs extended to 60); easier to hold; buttons and dials spread out and not jumbled together; great images Problems: No adequate warning that with the lens cap in place, the camera when first turned on extends out of camera. Getting accessories such as the lens adapter ring VAD-S70 ...

Sony has really outdone itself with this latest high-end contender! 3+ pixels in combination with Zeiss optics yields what is likely the highest resolution of anything in it's class. Traditional Sony quality; beautifully designed and solidly built, lightweight and compact. Superior Lithium Info battery system; essentially no memory or self-discharge; VERY long lasting with accurate minutes remaining indicated. Very bright and clear LCD and optical viewfinders. Problems: Absolutely NO Problems !

This camera was a replacement for my Songy Mavica83 and was well worth the extra $100 price difference. In even lower settings, the pictures are absolutely beautiful (results were spectacular on my HP 970CSE printer). Colors were vibrant and the detail was amazing. Also, though it only comes with an 8MB memory stick, an additional stick was much cheaper than compared to Compact Flash or Smart Media. Easy connection to the PC via a USB cable...creating a drive to move files from. Problems: ...
