I bought my Sony DSC-S70 around 2000 when it entered the market, and I still consider it as a very good digicam. It makes splendid pictures, and in my opinion (as a layman) this is due to (1) the Zeiss-lens, (2) the large image-sensor and (3) the absence (except for the optional JPG-conversion) of any kind of 'post-processing' of the images. I get my pictures in the original 'as taken' format and that's it. Nothing less, nothing more. Later I bought a Canon Ixus 850 with a lot of ...

The S70 was my first digital camera. I would say that for the past 9 years, nothing else that I owned came close.

I am reviewing this camera for the one person who might run across it after it has been out of production for quite some time. It was a great camera at the time and I would highly recommend it. Problems: If you can afford it, get a new camera; however, if stumble across one of these in great shape then get it. It's flash is a big weak and the batteries wear out quickly (after 1 year of use).

I know that when I was given the camera 3.25 years ago it was one of the best non-Canon digital cameras on the market. It has 320x240 mpg video. It goes right into Premiere...unlike Canon mega compressed avi's. I leave the digital zoom off because it distorts the pictures. Have to watch the battery power now because it degrades the picture quality near 50 minutes. It is so much larger than the newer models available today... I now have the Canon A70 for faster pics at 2.0 max.. Problems: No ...

I love my DSC-S70 camera. To view some pictures taken with this camera, please visit: http://www.wideopenwest.com/~cngkeppers/ or http://www.wideopenwest.com/~cngkeppers/Family/Family.pdf The camera is easy to use/understand, has a lot of flexibility as far as how it can be used. I have no regrets, other than it could have come with a little more memory, and the battery after about 4 years and thousands of pictures is not keeping it's charge as well as it used to. Problems: The battery after ...

This was my first digital camera. I have very little experience with 'analog' photography, that just never did it for me. I like the instant results digital camera's give. I loved this camera, I owned it for over three years before I upgraded to a DSC-F707. I sold the S70, but only because it was gathering dust, not because it wasn't any good. I thought it was very solid and well-built, and it did what I wanted it to do just fine. It served me very well. Problems: I don't recall ever having ...

I've had this camera for about a year and a half. It's not a new camera anymore but it thinks it is. Pictures are still great. I took over 3000 pictures last year.. only 2600 turned out.. fancy that. I love it for taking action shots! Problems: hard to see the LCD in sunlight, I WANT A HOT SHOE stupid dsc-s75. I shouldda waited another month. be nice to have more than one ISO setting. It takes great pictures in low light but it would be better if the images weren't blurry. Image transfer from ...

I have had this camera for about 18 months and love it. Takes very impressive pictures. Great battery life. I bought a back up battery and only needed it one time (and didn't have it with me at that time). Excellent macro pictures. If you're an ebay seller, I always get compliments from ebayers on my pictures. Sometimes it is painfully too honest. Rigid construction. I love the camera. I can't find one to replace it with and I am always up on the latest tech. SOMEONE MAKE ME A BETTER ...
