I'm on the verge of selling this camera to a friend, and I'm reluctant, because it's a terrific little unit. Not as many pixels as some, not as technically perfect as others, but for my uses (publishing photos and mpegs on the web and in e-mails), you just can't top it for ease-of-use and quality of output. I especially enjoyed the swivelling view finder! Problems: No camera is perfect, and as much as I enjoyed this camera, my problems were as follows: 1) It only came with a 4 MB stick. I ...

I picked up the DSC-S50 about 2 years ago now and it is still taking nice shots. For someone looking to use the camera purely for email or webpage use I would still recoomend it if you got a good deal on it. have a look at www.pbase.com/tarikb for some examples of what the camera can do. Problems: The swivel LCD is starting to act a bit tempermental but this could be due to the fact I use the camera at the beach a bit.

Very good to excellent camera EXCEPT it has no optical viewfinder. This makes it almost useless for anything other than stills. update: After many. many pictures I still like this go anywhere camera. It has more than earned it's keep.

Overall, I thought that this was a good camera, especially for beginners in digital photography. The image quality is generally excellent, except in low-light conditions where image quality can get rather grainy, even with flash - which is only realistically useful for 5-10 feet. However, during the day this camera is an excellent choice. The images are sharper and color is better than I would expect from a 2.1 mpixel camera. I also like the motion capture feature which is easy to use. ...

Great camera for small prints, but once the image gets much bigger than 4X6, you start to loose quality, but I imagine that is the case with all 2 mega pixel cameras. I must say the photos are quite sharp at smaller sizes. All in all a great every day camera. Problems: LCD is hard to see in bright light. Images come out very saturated. There is a delay from when you press the shutter button to when the picture is actually taken, a bit of a pain to get the right shot. Also, low light images ...

After many years of using my Minolta SRT101, and later the 201, I finally got a digital, it wasn't of the best quality, but I had seen some of the Sony camera's and was impressed, when I finally got my CyberShot, I was very impressed with the quality of the camera, the quality of the pix, the quality is so good in fact, that I have written 2 articles and used this camera for the photos for both articles, much better then I can do with a wet film camera..........:o) Problems: Only the price of ...

One of the best choice for the money. I baught used S50(with 64M memorystick) for $300(U.S) suprisingly exellent constructions. exellent image quality. exellent LCD screen. Long Long Long~ life info lithum battery. very quiet zoom It can use another 37mm filters & lens. and so on. It has many manual modes like $500 camera! I don't have a reason to sell it! So I love it forever! Problems: some shutter lags but it has no problem to get great pix.
