Several months ago, I was looking for a new premium compact camera.  I was sold on the RX1R.  Before I usually buy something that expensive however, I always do my research. I went to Sony's support site to see how often they updated the RX1R firmware.  Zero!  Zilch!  Not one time did they offer any firmware updates.  Are you kidding?  You're asking me to spend major $$$ and you're not going to support it??? So why on earth would I spend $3300 on the RX1R II if Sony isn't going to support...

One of the frustration I had with RX1R was, every time I turned the camera off, the manual focusing distance would be reset to default which I believe is infinity. Has This been fixed in the new II model? Does the camera remember the same distance now?

I'm new to photography but I have just purchased the Blackrapid Wrist strap  and Blackrapid SnapR 35. I just found out the SnapR 35 comes with a wrist strap. Is it a stupid idea to have bought the Blackrapid Wrist strap (keychain looking one)  ,  should i cancel it . Or is the wrist strap much better than the one that comes with the SnapR 35 .Please help i only have today left to return it.

Back in mid-October, Sony created a lot of "buzz" when it officially announced the specifications of the new RX1Rii (e.g., 42mp full-frame sensor, 399-point hybrid AF, Zeiss 35mm f2.0 lens, variable LPF, high-quality built-in EVF, all in an amazingly compact / lightweight body). So, when the camera began shipping on November 25, I expected to see an enormous amount of instantaneous feedback (and sample photos) from owners who pre-ordered the camera and were among the first to actually receive...

I am drooling at the thought of buying a RX1R2 as a much smaller / lighter / higher-resolution replacement for my A7s in low light / indoor venues.  However, much of the size / weight advantage would be lost if I couldn't use my compact / lightweight Sony HVL-F20M flash on the RX1R2 (as I now do on my A7s).  Does anyone know for certain if the HVL-F20M flash (which folds up and down to turn on and off) can be mounted on the RX1R2 without it interfering with the pop-up EVF?  Thank you.  Tom C.

I need help demystifying the AF. I'm only interested in a couple of scenarios, but the AF seems to have a mind of its own. I need to conquer this before a wedding on Monday Night. I've spent an hour or so fiddling with the configuration. I've got the camera pretty close to what I want, but I'm still struggling with figuring out how the various focusing related parameters even work. I'll describe what I want it to do and hope someone can advise what combination comes closest. Ideally I just...

I have A7R2, was Nikon user and still have Nikon DSLR, but recent Sony camera is just getting better. So, here is the dilemma. Already bought 16-35, 70-200, and 55 1.8, Love the 55mm very much, now thinking 35mm. I am aware the 1.4 vs 2.0 aperture thing and weight/price different etc. Say, if IQ is the only decision factor, regardless pricing/weight and anything else, which one is better? 35/1.4 with A7R2 or RX1RII?

Hello, I'm wondering if the owners of the newer Sony cyber shot models that have a pop-up viewfinder have experienced any problems with their durability during daily use. I am considering the RX1R with optional viewfinder, but it appears the improvements in the RX1R II may be worth waiting (and saving) to order. I do not mind the size of the optional finder and it appears more rugged or less prone to failure. I am generally not a fan of things that "pop up" and I tend to carry my cameras...

I don't know why I can't find the answer to this question on my own but every time I google it I... I dunno. Can someone please tell me if the RX1R, not the new version but the older one, has either Face detection and or Eye Detection when auto focusing. Thanks!
