I've been a longtime Panasonic/Lumix owner and based on the raves of friends (and users here) of the RX100 ii, thinking of picking it up. Noticed a price drop this week and wonder if this means a replacement model is around the corner? Is it worth grabbing this current version? Thanks Bohdan
Got today a RX100 II and I'm pretty much impressed about the features and IQ of the new toy. One thing that I couldn't find an answer in the manual is how to turn the NFC off? Actually the NFC sign is constantly ON the display which shows that the NFC is enabled. This seems to drain the battery quite fast. Can somebody help with this as I'm obviously I'm missing something here. Thanks! Georgio
Bought the RX100 II and tried the Wi-Fi shooting mode by connecting it to an iPad (4th generation). Everything seemed to be working fine until I actually press on the round on-screen "shoot" button. The focus light goes off on the RX100 for a second and the iPad displays "Error: Could not shoot." I installed the Sony PlayMemories app on my Android phone (Nexus 4) and the exact same error appeared when trying to shoot. Note that with both the iOS and Android devices, I am able to transfer...
I am considering getting an RX100M2. I was looking at some of the test images from the imaging-resource.com review, and what I see is puzzling: Sony RX100M2 Portrait Test (ISO 200) Canon G15 Portrait Test (ISO 200) The Canon G15 has a much smaller sensor, yet its portrait test images look much sharper and nicer than those of the RX100M2 at lower ISO levels. Canon's images degrade more quickly at higher ISO levels, but they are still a bit better than the Sony images. I thought perhaps the...
How do i make the menu button go back to the last menu page i am at ? mine kept going back to the first page. Lets say i press the menu button then i scroll to the 4th page. Then i press the shuttle button to escape. When i press the menu button again, it go back to the 1st page. Anyidea ?
Will there be anything new upgrades to the RX100? The RX10 is too large and expensive (for me) and the RX100 II is too small, lacking in external controls, grip and the lens is lacking, especially at the long range, f4.9 (for me). An RX50 with a much better lens, similar to the Canon G1X MkII or Nikon P8000 with a 24-120mm f2.0-3.0/3.9 would be great, if Sony could pull it off. Is there any information or rumors of any upgraded RX100 coming out in the next 2-4 months? PS, I did say above “for...
I recently purchased RX100 II after test driving my friends RX100 camera. I compared the camera side by side and see below issues 1) LCD screen on RX100 II not as crisp/bright as RX100 (Settings were the same) 2) Last night I took indoor picture of my living room. RX100 II produced 1/30, 1.8F and 500 ISO. Same place same picture, RX100 produced the image at 1/30, 1.8F and 400 ISO. RX100 image was brighter and crisper than RX100 II. I'm baffled by this. I thought the RX100 II was an obvious...
Hello! This is my first post even though I have been following dpreview for years now, on and off. I'm currently looking for a replacement for my Canon 40D. I'm in the market because I wan't to shoot video and pics of my future dog that will be born sometime in april onwards. The 40D doesn't have video and that's the main reason I need a new camera. I don't want to shoot crappy Samsung Galaxy S3 video. I'm also an artist, and although my photography has been on a break, I would like to have...
Hello everyone! I come from the point-and-shoot world and now I'm aiming to go a step further in terms of image quality. Recently, I bought the HX300 but I'm not happy with the grainy photos it produced (although I'm keeping it for that 50x zoom), so I guess it's time to move on. Since I'm a botanist (very enthusiastic about photography) and will mainly do landscapes and plants with tons of macros, I obviously need something with good macro capabilities. I think I'd be happy with RX100, but...
