Purchased mine sooner after it's release in 2012. For year's I looked for the pocketable camera that took great pictures. Canon Elphs were the best in the mid-2000s, then Panasonic started upping the game later in the 2000s, but the RX100 was the first one that did it right. It was expensive at first, but was been worth every cent. In the last two years, I have purchased and moved on Canon 6D, several m43 cameras, and several Fuji cameras. I had been looking for a pocketable high quality camera for some time, I'd bought and sold a Canon G1x which I found so disappointing, problems with exposure and in particularlits inability to autofocus. It's also not easy to fit into a pocket as easily as the Sony does. I've been using the RX100 for a couple of years and the results are outstanding. Excellent quality that fits in my pocket. Still love my K5 and DA* lens but they don't fit in the pocket. People are much more casual when this little gem is pointed at them. Could not be happier.

I've owned a lot of gear over the past decade or so. See my previously owned gear list if you don't believe me.
