I recently acquired 4 lenses and needed to calibrate them, I have been using the Lens Align and FocusTune but for what ever reason this time FocusTune told me none of the test images were Back Focused in the range of -20 to +20. The FocusTune process can be tedious with around 78 shots for each Lens Body combination (doubled for zooms) so I decided to try the Dot Tune process before spending all day just calibrating. While using DotTune I had the camera on DMF so Focus Peaking would appear...

My A99 file numbers got screwed up yesterday, probably because I stuck a A77 card in it. I have tried the trick of formatting the card, taking a picture, renaming to the proper number (not 00001). I also tried 00001 and it did not work either. I then set the file number to reset, formatted the card, took 1 picture, and put it back to series, took another picture making sure the next number was 00002, formatted again and lastly took a few more pictures to be sure the numbering was working. As...

I have been to these parks many times over the years but have not been back with a camera since 1972. I am going in about two weeks. In prior visits were Kodachrome ASA400 with either a 28-50 or a 100mm lens and a tripod, I did get some good images at Carlsbad. * Monopod assuming if like other caves a tripod is not alllowed * Probably no flash although Wind Cave NP and Mammoth Cave NP allow them * What lens(s) to tale, see my lens stable in my signature * White Balance, what lighting does the...

Anyone ever used this  Vanguard GH-300T Pistol Grip Ball Head? I have a Arca ball head  but I really don't like using it as it takes two hands to set it. The Vanguard seems to have good reviews in the Accessories forum. This head comes with both Canon and Nikon cable releases but a Sony cable is available for another $10. -- SargeA99| A77II| QX10Sony 28-75mm|70-200mm G|70-300mm G|70-400mm GMinolta 35-70mm|50mm|85mm G|100mm Macro|28-135mm|200mm G|1.4 & 2X TCTamron...

How do you secure the plate to the Sony 70-400's tiny foot anything special like a replacement foot? I've had issues with twisting and the screw loosening as a result particularly if I move the tripod around a lot.  --SargeA99| A77II| QX10Sony 28-75mm|70-200mm G|70-300mm G|70-400mm GMinolta 35-70mm|50mm|200mm G|1.4 & 2X TCTamron 90mm|150-600mm|1.4XTC|2xTCBower 8mm & 14mmAlbums at www.sony-snapper.com

I have three heads a Manfrotto 488RC0 that I don't like, a Manfrotto geared head 438 and a Manfrotto 393 Gimbal. My tripod is a Manfrotto  190xPROB. The tripod is a bit heavy (1996 grams) and long, when collapsed (23.2 in), for travel, and tends to vibrate with a long lens. I think I need a travel tripod and a rock solid tripod. My camera is  Sony A99 1293 grams with grip, heaviest lens is the Tamron 150-600 (1,950 grams) I tend to use the gimbal head for everything so I will probably upgrade...

Why would I want to use it What can it be viewed with? Is it worth the cost the the larger faster memory? Is is just a gimmick only needed by pro videographers?  -- SargeA99| A77II| QX10Sony 28-75mm|70-200mm G|70-300mm G|70-400mm GMinolta 35-70mm|50mm|200mm G|1.4 & 2X TCTamron 90mm|150-600mm|1.4XTC|2xTCBower 8mm & 14mmAlbums at www.sony-snapper.com

I currently have no interest in E-Mount bodies however the latest SAR posting (SR5) made me wonder: Why do A-Mount lenses require a adapter with a mirror, Canon and Nikon lenses do not. Is it that some are screw drive, is the flange distance is too far off to be adjusted by an adapter?  --SargeA99| A77II| QX10Sony 28-75mm|70-200mm G|70-300mm G|70-400mm GMinolta 35-70mm|50mm|200mm G|1.4 & 2X TCTamron 90mm|150-600mm|1.4XTC|2xTCBower 8mm & 14mmAlbums at www.sony-snapper.com
