Acquire my P73 in mid 2004, complemented the P93 so my wife and i had access to a camera each. I still use the P73 as I have the 40M marine pack for it, and when its holiday time it goes in the luggage with my D90 and D300S, without fail. It produces better images in terms of noise and colour fringing than my current W115 or my sons W220. The only reason I dont use the P72 more is its size, the W115 fits in the top pocket of my suit when on business trips. Problems: Faster than the P92 but ...

Compared to the DSC-P73 that followed it (see my review), the DSC-P72 offers less features (a.o. shutter speed limited to max 2", less modes), has a slow memory access (using Memory Sticks), the same tiny screen and, most of all ... is rather bulky (though the grip is excellent thanks to the rubber elements). For the rest, you'll find the same positive characteristics as the ones described in the DSC-P73 review that I posted: very steady construction, easy to use in all conditions, yet full ...

My first digital camera ever, and what can I say, it started the entire revolution for me. Fast, responsive, had the cool picture effects, MPEG movie support and was a great beginner's camera. I esp. loved the bright AF illuminator lamp. It took a beating during its active time and yet even though it's visually displeasing to look at, it still works well, a testament to what Sony is capable of (never did get a faulty CCD). Problems: Wish it had a manual white balance, a larger LCD, some ...

Great photos. Clear lens too. Camera is well built, and has a nice array of program setting including photos effects.

You can do better... This was my second digital camera. My first was the delightful little Sony DSC-U10, so I thought the P72 would be a big step up: better resolution, optical zoom, bigger screen. Unfortunately, it's been a disappointment. The resolution and features are mediocre at best, and the battery life is brutally short. It's a better camera than the little U10, but not by enough since it's also bulkier, less intuitive and less reliable (thanks to the battery issues). My next ...

I just bought a "like new" Sony P72 camera from ebay for less than $100. Suffice to say, that's A STEAL. With 4 MP, you will be able to take Very Sharp and Detailed Photos. 99.5 % of consumers do not need to buy a 7,8,or 9 + Megapixel Camera. This camera also uses "AA" batteries and even includes a charger which is growing rarer these days. And yes, it can use Memory Stick Pro. In fact, you need it to take advantage of VGA Movie Mode. Thrilled with my Purchase! Problems: USB 1.1 Faster ...

This is great for a typical point-and-shoot camera. If you need something to stick in your pocket and take shots of family and such and you don't want to worry about settings - then this camera will suffice. Problems: Blurry images indoors without the flash on (which typically washes out the pictures). Limited controls. Auto-focus doesn't work well without the flash enabled indoors.

I had the dsp p72 for over a year and was relatively happy. Now, because I'm a camera newbie, and I'm just learning for now, but I did start noticing that lots of my shots were producing blurred photos (I have kids, lots of action shot or just plain old restless kids). I'd say that atleast half of my shots would result in a person or part of a person being blurry. Still shots were not a problem Next came the image quality. Now, my previous point and shot (non-digital) was a yashica w/ carl ...

I bought the camera 6 months ago and had no problem since. Very easy to make photos, the auto setting performs well in many cases. The batteries last enough time and I didn't feel the need of another pair. I would recommend this camera for anyone that want a digital camera but are beginner/novice phtographers. Problems: The night photos aren't quite as good as they could be. Another problem would be that the flash is charging kind of slow and you can't browse the photos while the flash is ...
