Was going on vaca, so decided to buy a digital camera. Played with it a few days, and found some pictures had noise in them (horizontal striations). Went on vaca and took some very nice pictures, but every once in a while, the noise was back. I like the quality of the camera and the pictures, but... (read problem section) Problems: Tried to contact sony about the noise problem, but it's nearly impossible to speak with someone at sony on the phone. On the Sony web site, I required a ...

I bought one of these cameras in February (2003) just before it was superceded by the P72. I bought it from Amazon for £250, and I was very pleased with it's performance although I did think the construction was a quite flimsy. 5 weeks after buying the camera the auto lens cover broke and jammed half way across the lens. I contacted Amazon who told me to take the camera to a Sony Repair Centre, which I did. I was informed by them that Sony didn't honour warranties on "goods bought over the ...

I have had my camera for a week now, and I really like it. I learned to use it in no time. The only thing I do not like is I cannot get it on my computer. I have spent a week on the phone, and it is still not working on my computer. Its no good to me if I cannot us it on my computer. Problems: Cannot get it on my computer. I have tryed everything. I will take it back to the store. Maybe try something else.

After using the camera for a couple of months now, I'm not happy with the image quality. I feel that nothing else matters, as in the end, the picture is what counts. I have taken about 900 photos with it and the vast majority of them are grainy/noisy beyond what I feel is acceptable. I have found that the sort of lighting dramatically affects the picture quality. Clear, sharp pictures are only obtained in very brightly lit conditions. Pictures taken inside with natural or artificial light, ...

I have had this camera for two days. I am sad to say that the unnatural green (and to a lesser extent, the red /blue) is so bad that I cannot bear taking pictures with it. It is a potentially good camera with lots of features and good paper specifications. However, Sony are throwing their good reputation away with this camera. One can forgive many things, but poor image quality and shocking green is not forgivable. Wake up Sony, please! Problems: Unnatural green colour Poor image quality ...

Great camera that makes good pictures. It's a little tricky to get the best out of it but when you read the manual and try a bit you will get a perfect quality photo. If you want to get a easy to use camera this and dont wanna read or try the functions this is not what you want, else go for this one it great believe me ;) Problems: The only thing is the enter-button that is in the middle of the funtion buttons, makes it hard to push good

I was initially attracted to this camera by the features and the overall feel/construction. After torturing the people at the store for an afternoon (making them take the same picture and print it with different cameras), I settled on a camera (The DCS-P71) that actually we had been forced not to print as we could not find a printer that would take the memeory stick and print plain paper (to move to photo paper would have no been a head to head match). I decided this was not a big deal ...

This is the fourth digital camera I've owned and one of my many Sony products. Previously, I've owned an Agfa e1680, Toshiba PDR-M5 and a Nikon Coolpix 990. I sold the Coolpix 990 in hopes to upgrade to a Sony DSC-F707, but between the time I sold that camera and some recent events, I was unable to purchase the 707, and decided to wait until the next generation digitals came out later this summer - I'm still looking for that "perfect" digital camera in my mind to suit my needs. In the ...

Well built and very user-friendly, but limited range of options for controlling images. This camera does work with Alkaline batteries (Manual says it doesn't) but they must be good quality (Ultra-type) batteries - with normal alkaline in my experience the camera doesn't start up. Images are very sharp, but there is a slight green cast sometimes evident on some samples - I suspect there are different revisions of the firmware around - shame Sony don't make updates available. Problems: 1. No ...

Nice design, and easy to use. The fact that this camera takes blurer pictures than the Sony F707 or a G2 has to be accepted. I is just not apple to apple comparison with those 'big' cameras. Sometimes i got good photographs, but some are really diasppointing. Just shoot more pictures and you'll get to understand what and what-not to take. Don't set too high expectation for pictures this camera takes. It is the features, design and price that attract people to buy. Surely not the picture quality.
