I just got a Sony DSC-P50 yesterday and really like how it's built. Typical first-class Sony engineering. Pictures look nice and the camera has a very short learning curve even for beginners like myself. BUT, Sony's marketing department has nearly undone the enineering excellence. See below. Problems: Sony withholds required accessories and then tries to sell them as "options". Just try and download your pictures to a computer without their "options". The famous Alkaline AA battery lifespan ...

Good camera, nice zooming functions, even after the picture is taken. I like the movie mode too, for a little clip, it's pretty handy. Problems: Did anyone notice troubles dealing w/ AA batteries, the supplied batteries worked fine, but when they died I put in other brand (Duracell), and for some reason, the camera didn't work??? I ended up buying two Lithium batteries from Sony, no more problems now, but still the AA battery thing bothered me a little

After using the P50 extensively for a few days now I think it's a lovely little camera. Compact (pocketable), easy to use, excellent image quality. Feels robust and is a joy to use. I am very satisfied with the purchase. However...... Problems: You must allow for the additional cost of the recommended lithium ion battery and charger/adapter. How Sony can ship this unit with two AA alkalines is beyond comprehension. The camera works for only a few minutes, and Nickel-Mh rechargeables don't do ...

I have just purchased the Sony DSC-P50 and am very happy with it except for a few draw backs. Origionally, I thought it would be the best possible camera for $400 which it for the most part complied with. The battery is a horrible nightmare though. I opened it up and the first thing I did was pop in the small 4Mb. memory stick and put in the AA batteries which I thought it came with 4 so you had a back up which was not the case. They ment that you get two double A's, not 2 sets of them. ...

This camera is perfect for my application. It will be used by several novice users within our organization so simple is good. The image quality is satisfactory for our needs as archival data of asset conditions. Problems: I was extremely disappointed to discover the absence of the "Stamina" battery pack, which by every indication including the sales rep was to be included. Needless to say I was required to drop an additional $100.00 for the (according to the manual pg. 30) required and "NOT ...

I just got the camera today. I work at Best Buy and was the first to buy it. It feels great, it's as easy as pie to use, and learn, and when compared with everything else we sell, I think it gives the best value for the money. Not only for beginners, but for advanced users as well. I'm very happy. But I have no charger. Grrrr. Problems: No charger. Grrrr.

Camera looks good, feels good, but.... see problems below. Problems: I just purchased the P50 and discovered after reading the manual (bottom of page 30) that the camera should have a fully charged Lithium battery or a power adapter followed with the warning, "Don't use batteries." None of the local stores had the power adapter so I ordered the Stamina Value Kit from Sony--another hundred dollars.

The camera is excellent, i'v had it for about 4 months, bought a 64MB stick, bettery and charger from the onset, so i factored the cost in. bought it for $1100 Aus. very happy with photo quality. Problems: don't have the camera on auto ISO setting when taking pictures in the dark always set it to 400, you get better pictures and less blurring from movement.
