Own a Sony DSC-F707 for over a year, always kept watching out for a cheap small camera. I bought this one for 237 EUR, i'm happy with it. Results are practically the same as my first digital Canon S10 camera (also 2.1). The camera feels so solid, unbelievable. Size is perfect, if it would be smaller it wouldn't be that convenient to use. Zoom is somewhat worthless, the lens is covered by a small door when turned off. Very good constructed, cause dirt can easly 'work up' in that small holes. ...

Decent camera all around. Owned it for 30 days before exchanging it for the Panasonics Lumix DC-20, and already I am loving the optical zoom and the Lumix much more than this cam. If you are going to spend the $220 you should just spend the extra 50 bills and get a one with optical zoom because it is such a necasary feature. Battery use was amazing. Plastic case could be better but it is overall good. It has manual focus, manual ISO, good exposure, MPEG are only limited by the memory card. Pictures are very good for the category and 4x6 prints look fine. Just two NiMh batteries but duration is good. Great PC download software: you get just one more removable drive and transfer time is fast enough. Don't even think to use the digital zoom: it is nearly useless. Compared to Nikon Coolpix 2000 (maybe 2500 also), Sony P31 is a clear winner. ...

I purchased as a backup unit. It takes very good pictures and smokes on the Nikon 775 I had. No Optical zoom, but with my experience all small cameras have lame zooms compared to my UZI. Battery use is the best I have seen to date in any digital. The auto USB works seemlessly. Pictures tend to be a bit dark. Have lots of light on subject. Inherited from small lens. I made 4x6 and 8x10 prints on my Canon S-600 they look great. I think best buy for compact camera and uses AA batteries. Sony ...
