Typically in cameras (especially digital cameras) you get what you pay for, but this Sony is an exception. For the $$ this camera is packed with features and beats out other cameras in the $200-$225 price range. If you want optical zoom with micro then spend $80 more for the dsc-p51 (it has a slightly larger footprint though). You have to give up something to get to this low price so Sony sacrificed the focal zoom instead of pic quality. Taking good digital pictures is not just the camera's ...

This is my first digital camera. I use alot of SLR cameras and I decided I needed something for everyday pics without the hassel. I LOVE THIS CAMERA! The features are amazing and the pics are great. Problems: My only gripes are the battery charger and lack of optical zoom.

Bought this camera today and I like it very good construction. Although still getting used to it it takes good quality pictures and nice colours. All this baby needs is an optical zoom as the size of this camera is perfect, it sony incorporate x2 optical zoom this camera will be a winner Problems: When you set the flash on then switch the camera off the camera does not retain this setting but goes to default with flash off. Also print on the LSD is very small and the software that comes with ...

Plastic case could be better but it is overall good. It has manual focus, manual ISO, good exposure, MPEG are only limited by the memory card. Pictures are very good for the category and 4x6 prints look fine. Just two NiMh batteries but duration is good. Great PC download software: you get just one more removable drive and transfer time is fast enough. Don't even think to use the digital zoom: it is nearly useless. Compared to Nikon Coolpix 2000 (maybe 2500 also), Sony P31 is a clear winner. ...

I won't elaborate on the jaw-dropping set of features; by now you know nothing really compares to it at its price point (and well beyond). I've read with puzzlement the shortcomings others have noted, such as the charger, construction, Memory Stick technology, etc. Don't fret. The fact it comes with a charger is a minor miracle (and the NiHD batteries are top-drawer quality). Faster charger? Register with Sony and they give you $20 credit on any P31 accessory. I applied it the the Starter ...

Good Camera, Awful Charger Kit. I got this camera on June 2002. I am impressed with image quality and sharping colors of this baby. It is so small which you can carry without any problem. The Windows XP recognize it without the need of installing any driver :) However it has one problem more than previously mentioned problems in this site. The charger!! Problems: The charger that comes with the camera is not a fast charger. So two NiMH batteries take 13 hours to charge when they are ...

I'm really glad to have bought this camera. I was battling between this, Toshiba PDR-T10 and Minolta Dimage X, but chose this as the other 2 are expensive and manual controls are lacking. Although this is a 2.0 megapixel camera, the pictures are bright and clear. At the highest resolution, the pictures are extremely vivid though I wish the Memory Stick was more than 8MB to accomodate the size of pictures in at the 1600X1200 resolution. The camera offers a superb balance between manual and ...

Horrible zoom! I had prints made from pictures that I took with this camera and some of them came out horribly. There was a lot of noise, and they were VERY pixelated. I noticed that the ones that came out that way were the ones where I used the zoom. I would have been better off without a zoom at all. Very very dissapointing. It is very easy to use though and the menus are not counter-intuative which is a plus. But all in all the picture quality is not good for printing. Problems: Horr ...
