The thing works nice, when it works, and produces good pics with good print quality. See problems. Problems: The camera (and I am not the only one) has a major problem with its infolithium battery. The camera destroys batteries, damaging the infochip, rendering the battery useless. I am now on my fifth battery and it won't charge beyond 15 minutes now. It is irrepairable (Sony confirms that) and this was the fourth new battery under warranty. The camera has been back, parts replaced, new ...

I have had the camera for about 10 months and I have had a number of problems. The camera has been in Service once and is going back in for a second time. Picture quality seems not what it was when orginally bought and I have the random battery drain problem that is talked about in the forums. This problem is real. I Love the size of the camera and its features, but the reliability is very questionable. I have already lost precious moments do to the random camera drain.

I used to have a DSC-X1 bought in Japan, it is a Sanyo. I liked that one. I wanted something with better features so I choose the P1. The critera I set for a camera was: ANALOG zoom (digital sucks), SOUND recording ability, MOVIE ability,a bit HIGHER resolution (even if I used 640x480 mostly). I'd prefer something w smartmedia/compact flash, since I had some cards already.
