It takes while, but when you learn DSC-M1 you will be pleased with the excellent quality of pictures. (Took me six months, to get it right!) The MPEG 4 video is superb. I use Quicktime for play back. The sound is nice (and loud enough). Problems: Major glitch, if you are using some laptops is the complete absence of a file (SONYPVU1.SYS file) needed to (download) see pics on computer. Somehow that file is missing from the horrific software included with the cam. Good thing the file was in my ...

The M1 is great for picture quality. I never had any problems with this camera yet and the MPEG4 Video is awesome. I awe my friends with the unique design of it. Problems: The camera is quite large, only useful if you have larger hands. I can't put it in my pocket without it buldgeing out. You can't send your MPEG4 movie to family and friends, only if they have MPEG4 on their computer(very un-useful).

1 ) photo performance is good, except in flash mode( see below). 2 ) video performance is good, except for rapidly moving objects such as a basketball or soccer ball. The processor is apparently not fast enough to capture a smooth image of such objects. 3 ) sounds capture is phenomenal for such a small unit!!! 4 ) unit is easy to use, fits in the pocket well. I use a black eyeglass case to protect it...works perfectly!!! 5 ) am looking forward to new 2 Gb MS Pro Duo...need that to capture a ...

It is the first camera I can carry in my pocket and forget I have it with me until I need it. I shot hundreds of still images and movies on initial trial visit to New Orleans. Daylight shots of the architecture are stunning. Movies of Bourbon Street at night include the sounds and movement. Hybrids capture our laughter. It actually records movies when it's too dark for hand-held stills! Its designers seem to have everything well thought-out. Problems: Except for the limited capacity of the ...

A lot of fun! Love the option to shoot movies or pictures. Controls are easy to adjust; numerous picture modes to select from. Feels solid and well built Problems: Little slow on focus; picture somewhat soft around edges.

This dual-function camera will polarize user opinion between those that find it fussy and others willing to accept some shortcomings in exchange for versatility. Best features are: True 640x480 @ 29.97fps compressed MPEG-4 video, with 16bit/24KHz stereo audio files. A macro mode that can be on all the time plus a Magnifying Glass Mode with focusing to 1cm. 2.5-inch transmissive/reflective Hybrid LCD Monitor. Problems: Better low-light sensitivity would be a big help. Either a larger maximum a ...
