This was my first good quality 'superzoom' GPS compact camera. Since this I've owned the Canon SX260 HS and my present camera a Panasonic TZ-40 (SZ-30 in US). The pictures from this camera are the best of the 3, especially in panorama where it kicks the other 2 into a top hat! It wasn't perfect in other areas, but I still think that when you're talking about cameras, image quality must be the foremost consideration. I bought it as we were going on a 4 week holiday to Iceland and wanted to be ...

this Sony Hx9v is simply a Fantastic Travel Compact Camera ! AMB, HR Panorama and HHT Modes are great ! HDR Mode is nice too and you can Correct Exposure +/- by choosing the place you half-press the shutter ! Back Ground Blur is very useful for Portraits and Flowers ! The 24-384 Zoom and the incredible Image Stabilizer deliver HQ pictures all the time ! Just 2 wishes : a 2nd Custom Button on the top and the possibility to lower the Flash Power : some -3 +1 setting ? Problems: you'll have ...

The Sony DSC-HX9V packs a lot of features in a very small package, not least good video capacity and a long tele zoom lens. Its main quality is its excellent video capability, on par, or even better, than most camcorders available today. The touch-screen is very easy to use, and the only thing I miss is a viewfinder, like the one available for its NEX cousins, or the Olympus XZ-1! Problems: None worth mentioning!

You can do lot of things with this small and nice camera - films, 3D photos, panoramas... First, it is full with features that are great to use. Second it is a compact camera that can do so much with so little effort and that can be also used with custom settings as well. It is very stylish and slick, but handy enough! Nice that you have the documentation with you and nice that the "Auto super-intelligent!" feature allows the camera to be used by my kids as well (not that I am encouraging ...

My Lumix DMC TZ5 died so I decided to go for sony now since new DMC TZ panasonics are reviewed as not so good as old ones. I use this camera as second camera besides SLR, and for sport/family trips. Sonys pictures are satisfying, colors are too saturated, and images are somehow too much processed in camera allready. Camera is very slow (if compared to my 3 year old broken lumix) in terms of functionality (power on off, image review, zoom image, processing etc...) that is why I cannot ...

My quest to find a compact replacement for my older Sony DSC-H5 (7.2MP / 12X Optical) has unfortunately ended in failure. It's hard to believe that a camera almost 4 years old still takes better pictures than these newer compact ones. Having said this, I will say that in terms of usable pictures, this camera was much better in my opinion than the Canon SX230 HS, which I returned to try this one. Here is what I found between the two: 1. In terms of focusing, the Sony DSC-HX9V was much ...

The Sony has better ergonomics than the ZS10. It feels really comfortable to hold. The real shortcoming is the failure to include shutter priority and aperture priority on the command dial. Its hard to imagine why this product went to market without these two features, but the omission is serious. It seems to be what happens when products are designed by computer geeks rather than serious photographers. It took Panasonic three generations of the Z - series before they corrected the issue, ...

Excellen quality for a small camera. Mine focuses very well at full zoom, it is much more sensitive in lowlight conditions than my old Canon A620, and I love these automatic panorama function. 3D work nice as well, burst shooting is excellent, and movies astonishing...at least the AVCHD movies are very comparable with a videocamera. Problems: Battery is down quickly when filming or doing any kind of processing (3D, panorama, etc.). If you just shoot photos then everything is ok and you can ...
