Purchased the F505V after reading the in depth review and long comparisons between Nikon and others. Paid a higher price ($899.)to buy it local in case I wanted to return it -- but after five days of heavy use you couldn't tear this thing out of my hands. Wonderful shots ( I shoot antique toys -- vintage Marxplaysets) often in extreme close up. Detail and color are importyant to me and the V is supreme. Since I use Nikon 35mm and Sony digital 8mm often the learning curve was a breeze. ...

The 505V is my first digital camera, so my review is based on my experience with it and not a comparison with other digital cameras. First, what I like. Love the hinged body and lense, provides lots of flexibility when positioning for a shot. Zoom is very impressive. Love the ability to take great close up (macro) shots. Camera is easy to handle generally. Like all the features available via the menu. Quality of pics look good, although I haven't had a change to form a real opinion. Takes ...

The Good Good look, fully featured, 5x zoom and Carl Zeiss lens. During board daylight, the colors that comes out of this camera is amazing. Problems: The Bad In dark using flash light, skin tone becomes unnatural. The shutter/aperture adjustment relies too much on the LCD. Not to mention the LCD is useless in the dark. The Ugly Biggest problem, lag between shots and lag between pressing button and shutter are intolerable.

I purchased that F505 and loved it from day one. After a year of use I decided that I needed a viewfinder on the camera and traded the F505 in for the S70. One month later I returned the S70 and purchased the F505V. The F505V is easy to use and the pictures it takes are excellent. Awkward at first, but easy to get use to. Problems: When taking pictuers at night it is hard to see the LCD display.

Note: I will post this review under both the Nikon CP990 and Sony 505V, since it is essentially a comparison of the two. I returned my 505V for a CoolPix990 after one week. The main problem was that I wanted to use it with my telescope and microscope (using an LE adapter from www.stillwtr.com). It seemed ideal: high-quality, large-aperature lens, manual focus ring, big viewfinder, native filter thread that just happens to be exactly the right size for the LE adapter. In particular, the ...

I very much like the saturated and balanced colors and low noise on the images from this camera. The pictures are fantastic. The design of this camera makes it particulary easy to take pictures from a low viewpoint (as in pictures of your kids) Problems: This camera has a problem with autofocus which causes focus to be shifted to contrasty objects in the background. The image visibility outdoors on the LCD is good but not great enough outside to determine focus well. Image capture is also ...

I bought 505v just two weeks ago. I do want to repeat what is good of this camera. I just feel the image is a little too soft and too cool especially indoor photo when using flash. LCD monitor is definitely not as good as TFT in direct light.

I've bought this camera before reviewing and comparing with the other DC. However, i've found that there is quiet a lot of improvement from f505. I appreciate the image quality and manuel fousing design of this camera also i love the 5x zoom "carl zeiss" lens much Problems: i think the effective resolution should be raisen as it use a 3.34 mega pixel ccd. I doubt why it use a higher resolution
