An excellent camera -- I considered this in parallel with the Nikon 990. Ended up buying the 505V because IMHO it's a better camera.. although the options on the 990 were quite competitive. Gotta try it out before you buy it.. Probably the best LCD of all cameras. Problems: - Battery life TOO short - buy an additional 64MB Memory Stick.

I have had the DSC-505V since last August and regard it as an excellent and versatile camera. I have been very impressed by the picture quality. I am now considering the DCS-S75 - would this be a positive move? Problems: For fast moving scenes or when the subject is a child, the shutter response is far too slow. The lack of an optical viewfinder as the LCD is virtually useless in low light conditions indoors.

I upgraded from a Mavica 91 and am very satisfied with the improvements. The camera itself is light-weight, very portable, and easy to understand. Menu items are self-explanatory and easy to use. Pictures are clear, crisp and focused. Macro feature is fabulous, providing detailed images that don't lose their focus when getting really close. Having a memory stick instead of carrying around numerous floppy disks is a big plus! The camera can take clear pictures even in pretty low light ...

Im looking at the olympus 3030, and fuji 4700/4900 along with the sony, Im not professional but want to take pics on travel. boating, camping skiing, so want something pretty easy and fast to set up. and good quality. the main difference i see is resolution, of 1856x1392 vs 2048x1536 or 1800. How much diffence is there between them in say a normal 4x6 print, or max 8x10 print? Would i even use the 2048 or does that use up too much memory? Please help and email me thanks! bch2mtns@aol.com jen

Since i bought this camera i haven't really looked back! This really is a well built, solid camera. Although the design may take some getting used to. The camera is very comfortable to hold and use, although a lack of an optical viewfinder may prove difficult to use outdoors when working only from the lcd. The design of the camera makes tripod mount photography much easier than most others. Image quality is great, pictures are clean and colourful and also the mpeg movies are not too bad ...

Bought F505V before Christmas 2000. Great camera for the hands - very stable when taking pictures. Don't need to hold the camera at eye level all the time when taking pictures - hands will not feel tired easily . Borrowed the F505 for three months before purchasing the F505V and find the F505V image quality better than F505. File size are different. F505V has the sharpness adjustment. Easy to locate white balance and spot metering buttons. Pop up flash is great - pop if needed. Very user ...

Before I purchased the 505V, I did a lot of research as to which camera to buy and I picked this one almost hands down. I just love the radical shape and the ease of use of it. I have taken many pictures with it to this day, including almost all of my website pics which you can see here: (http://www.geocities.com/wicked2000ta/). The Carl Zeiss lens really brings out the colors, and the 15sec. video clips that you can take with it are a nice add-on. I reccommend this camera to anyone that ...

This is my first DC. I think it's pretty good. Image Quality is good, and I can use it easily. :) Before I bought it, I was worried about the manual-focus. But I found the manual-focus is really good n easy. :) Problems: Hummm... The battery capacity is low, I have to prepare some backups while outdoor-photographing. :(
