Great Camera !! I am a long time user of Nikon cameras all the way back to the Nikkormat days. Switching to digital and the instant gratification of seeing the end result was a dramatic change for me. Recently used it on a 9 day rafting trip through the Grand Canyon. Excellent resolution ! Using the cd's to record the images allowed 400 pictures hi-res pictures/movies to be taken without any problem. The low-light focusing system proved very accurate. It was a blast to use the movie ...

I have been a professional automotive photojournalist for the past 30 years. As you can imagine,it was with some trepidation that I switched from Nikon film cameras to digital. After much careful research, the Sony CD 400 seemed to have everything I needed. The first time I covered a major event, I used the Sony to record pictures for four different magazines. This would have meant multiple cameras and somewhere between 40 and 50 rolls of film. The CD 400 made the event coverage so easy, ...

Outstanding optics, poor responsiveness. The CD format is very nice since it effectively auto-archives your images/movies. The Ziess lens captures stunning detail and beatiful colors. Auto mode is excellent, as are the power and choices for manual tweaking. LASAR auto-focus in no-light is fabulous. Infolithium battery is a dream come true, reads exact minutes remaining. >220 minutes total time with the LCD on--and that's using the included "low end" battery. Problems: Excessive shutter ...

I got my camera in May 2002 and found it to be everything Sony said it was. I am extremely happy with this camera and sold my Oympus C3030Z which is a good unit. The camera feels like an SLR to the hand and the functions are real time and that helps with changing settings of the fly. The image sharpness is excellent and rival 35mm film. Now if they would make a six meg version with a 10X zoom lens I would be in hog heaven! Problems: None.

I read all the reviews and did many hours of reading on this before I bought one. I have to say this, the 400 is the best camera I have ever had the pleasure of using. I thought the FD88 was a great camera... I have not had a problem with the cd in 3 different PC's and not once did I have to use the adaptor that came with it. If you look, most pc's have a little place in the disc drives for a 3 inch cd. The Camera is everything I have read and wanted. I am very pleased to own one and use it ...

I have had my Mavica CD400 for a little over two months now and am very pleased. This camera is excellent for vacations in that your picture taking is only limited by the number of CD's that you have. I average 60 pictures per CD and this is a great way to save an origional copy of all your work. I am most impressed by the clarity of the finished product. Group pictures especially are very true to color, sharp, and look very professional when enlarged. I am so glad that I do not have to be ...

Terrific camera, exceptional quality photographs at all resolutions, colors are very true, storage capacity is amazing (I average 65 photos per CD at 2272x1702 resolution or 156 photos at a lower, still-good resoluion. Special effects, "film" options, are very realistic. I don't see why anyone would bother with expensive memory sticks or flash cards when CDs are so much cheaper over the life of the camera. Negatives: the auto focus is slow, the whole camera is bulky, the manual is poorly ...

A great camera if you don't mind the size. I bougth mine before our summer vacation and it was great not having to carry a laptop to download my pics. Just recharge batteries and keep using $.40 disks! I have two batteries and I can take over 500 pics with the LCD ON, about three disks with the two batts. Battery life is better that the cd300, and much better that the Nikon 5700. Imagein general is very good. Low ligth pics are excellent thanks to the laser illuminator (plus it looks cool ...
