I've been looking to get a little more in depth from an equipment standpoint when it comes to macro photography. I was wondering if anyone had experience with a digital rail and Sigma cameras, or a tethered auto focus bracketing software with Sigma cameras. I'll be picking up Helicon Focus soon (or at least trying it out) to use for focus stacking shots, and now I'm thinking about the best way to capture images. Helicon has a software called "Remote" by which you tether your camera to a...
As I already told, I'm back to Sigma and its unsurpassed colour rendition and Foveon sensor, my last camera had been an SD15, after a SD14, after... In the past, there was always a highly discussed recommended "basic setup" for a SD camera, not at last in order to overcome the one or the other weakness, or some "trick" to do so. I remember for my SD15 that is was a good idea to set the exposure compensation always to -0.7 in order to avoid highlight clipping, to set the colour mode to...
I have a Sigma SD14, but I'm going to be getting an SD1. They both use the same batteries, so I'm going to get a couple of new batteries now. I have a couple of old Chinese garbage brand batteries, and they don't work very well. They don't last long, and the SD14 does weird stuff when they start to get low on power. I don't think I want to get any of those $12 specials from China, even though they claim to be 1,750 mAh batteries, vs. the 1,500 mAh of my Sigma battery. A friend of mine told me...
I ask as it does not seem to be in Dave Coffin's latest list and I can't find an email address with which I can ask him. I am intending to buy an SD3M but only if I can continue to use Qimage to convert my RAWs. I've asked on the Qimage forum but not got an answer (yet). The SD1 and the SD2 are supported. I thought all three had the same sensor and software. Tony
Please accept my apologies in advance if I have failed to find the answer in existing posts already or I am just stating the blatantly obvious… I dare to ask since I suspect I may be the only Foveon user ever, who have cared dialing the resolution down to “Medium” ;-) Having acquired the SD1 last week I have been running some simple non-scientific tests out of the window of the various settings of the camera enjoying the sunny day of Brussels going Springy early. One of the things I have...
I just tried importing an X3F-file (from a DP3M) into a retina iPad but had no success using an Apple Lightning SD-card reader. It did not find any new pictures to transfer when the card only contained X3F-files. I tried separately with a jpeg file from the DP3M and it was transferred without problems. SD1: Does anybody know if the retina Ipads will transfer the files if I buy an "Lightning to USB iPad Camera Connector" and connect it directly to the SD1 body? DPxM: And will it also work for...
Hi Everyone: I noticed that many of the images I took of Havana's architecture about 3 years ago with an SD14 and 17-70mm lens, show purple-green blotching in the shadows. The streets were very narrow so there is a huge contrast between the sunlit and street level part of the images. Some of these images are quite lovely. Now that I am printing these images I can't help but see these blotches more explicitly. It seems like the only option I have is to convert these images to B&W, but it would...
I am amazed of the quality I can get out of my recently acquired DP2M and DP3M and am considering springing for one of the SD1 with 17-50mm f:2.8 combos which is so very reasonably priced here in Euroland at the moment instead of adding a DP1M. Unfortunately there does not seem to be anywhere to try them out here in Brussels. Due to shaky hands I have decided not to use the DPxMs handheld but only on a tripod. So I am a bit concerned about my ability to use the SD1 handheld. 1) Has anybody...
I recently purchase a s95 (refurbished version). I noticed that the photos taken (on AV mode or Auto mode) aren't as sharp/crisp as my old sd1100. Is this due to my settings or is the device defective? note the image below. I find that the right side are more "clear" than the left side. and most of my photo seems to have out of focus feel outside the focus point. I don't seem to have this problem with the dumb point-and-shoot. thanks f/4 1/320s ISO-80
