I use this on a Sigma SD1 Merrill.  It took a while to figure out how to use it.  Early on, I would find blurry sections in the middle of the frame on exterior shots & could never figure out what the issue was. In the end I discovered that for exterior images autofocus on infinity & usually everything else will be sharp, even at wide apertures. The lens is very sharp for a wide angle, and I like the quality of the colour it produces.  It vignettes a bit but that can be corrected. You need a ...

This lens is often overlooked and neglected in favor of the famous Tokina 11-16/2.8 or this lens' predecessor: the Sigma 10-20mm. However, it offers excellent sharpness from my experience, and it's as wide as it gets when it comes to the APS-C format while staying rectilinear. Take care when shooting with this lens, or you'll photograph your own feet if tilting it just slightly downwards. As for the speed, it's not as fast as the popular Tokina lens, but remember that the old "1/<equivalent ...

First of all, this is an exceptional lens. Not only in the sense that it creates a very high quality picture, but also that it is for specific types of photography. Overall, the Sigma 8-16mm f/4.5-f/5.6 is an excellent lens, but not being able to accept filters will be a be a disappointment for some people. I find I get better results using bracketed exposures, but this is more work in post processing that not everyone is willing to do. Strengths: - Ultra wide field of view - Landscapes / ...

I never thought this might become my day-to-day lens, not on my canon. But there it is, mounted day and night, so sharp and bright as a Canon L series could be. Sturdy, heavy and more versatile than I ever expected. Problems: No filters allowed. This lens goes to the limit before having vignette. Not for a full frame (I don't have a full frame, though :D)

Resolution is astonishing. colors are vivid. No flares. Multi coating is efficient. Worth the price. Put you in a composer mood. Problems: no problems at all.

Mostly positive review, really love this lens, ultra wide angle, solid construction (dunno why KR said about flimsy build, my opinion is this is a quite solid lens even though no match to my "all metal-no bullshit" nikon Ai-S). Silent & full time override HSM focus motor. Bulbous front element makes me feels like superstud wielding my dream lens nikon 14-24/2.8 :D (of course with some worries about its safety). Sure sharpness is no match to Nikon 14-24/2.8, heck, currently there are no match ...

I've had this lense for a few months now and I am impressed with it. The large field of view has been rather spectacular to play around with and to see what I can fit into the scene; such as my entire lounge room or kitchen with rather exaggerated proportions around the edges. By taking photos of text positioned at the corner of the image, I noticed that this lense does possess rather pronounced astigmatism (coma), which isn't suprising due to the bulb-like front element. Because of that, I ...

Fantastic lens! Love the "funhouse factor" as well as the ability to capture large events in a single shot. Just learning to appreciate shooting wide, but find myself reaching for this lens often. Problems: Lens cap is a bit weird. No filters possible.
