Hi, I'm thinking about birding, but well I'm poor. Very poor. I was lookin on another "budget birding lens" threads, but well, I don't find 2000$ lens budget. I need something for 200 - 300 $ max 500$. I was thinking about buying Sigma 70-300 APO DG just for training. Just to learn the basics and in meantime to rise money for Nikor 200-500 I'm dreamin about. In one-two years time I should be able to collect about 1500$ for it. Is that good idea? Hi all, This is my first post on DPReveiw. In preparing a wildlife trip, I'm looking for a reasonable telephoto lens that suits my Nikon D7100 body (DX sized sensor). The sole lens I have, is a portrait zoom (Sigma 17-70mm "C") which also sees landscape use most of the time, but for the next trip I'll need (much) more focal length. Since I try to shoot without tripod when possible, and due to luggage limitations, I'd like to avoid carrying a heavy lens that needs a permanent tripod mount, so...
