I bought this lens 1o years ago as this was the cheapest prime on Sigma mount!!!! £149.00 it cost me! What a bargain. It has been paid off time and again. I know it is a big bulk, it's AF and MF are quite sui generis, the first I had it went back as the iris go stuck!!! The replacement gets the stuck iris on the first shot only???? unless I remember to press the DOF button. It was not worth to replace it because the optical quality is astounding. It's the best lens I have tested on my 60D. Extraordinarily sharp and luminous. Absolutely no vignetting but after all it was designed for full frame format so... Yes of course, the autofocus is awfully slow but along with a fair weight, it's its only flaw, I think. The macro distance is absolutely amazing (6cm I think) and you can see every details of a wasp for exemple taken in macro mode. Hair, antenna and so on. I am quite surprised how unpopular this lens is. No reviews, no tests, no nothing. I have bought it from somebody who sold it SH at half the retail price and the copy had about km of backfocus... I sent it in for calibration and ever since then it's on my camera 90% of the time. It is a great 44m equiv on a crop body (close to the perfect 50mm general purpose) The lens is SHARP as f*** at f 1.8 and it produces quite decent bokeh from 1.8 to 2.8.
