I would like a lense with a zoom range wider than my old (and faulty) kit lense, but do not know which one to get. Do I buy a Sigma 10-20, a Tamron 10-24, or save up for something more expensive? Just looking for some advice Thanks!

I have been shooting with my first DSLR (D5000) since 2009. I am not a pro, just use the camera on my business travels and with my Family (mostly my kid nowadays). My lenses are 35mm 1.8G, Sigma 10-20 and Tamron 90mm f2.8. I believe only the Tamron supports full frame. I believe going to D7100 will not add much since D5000 is already a great camera and the next step would be going to full frame. My budget is around 3.5k (after selling a CAM recorder from Canon) for the body and 1 or 2 lenses....

Hi guys! First post here, but I've been looking around the forums for a while. Just wondering, would a crop frame lens such as the Sigma 10-20mm on a Sony a7R with adaptor, perform just as well as it would on a Nikon D7000 with a crop frame sensor? Thanks!

I am in need of a lens for my Canon 70D. Ultimately I would like a Sigma 10-20mm, but also in need of a general all purpose lens. I've also considered something like the Sigma 17-70mm so I can get F4 across that focal range. The only lens I have now is the Canon 50mm 1.8. Would the 17mm be adequate to at least get started? I don't have the money for both.

Hi, I just need some opinions on what I should do. As of right now in my bag, I carry a Canon Rebel T3i with 40mm f2.8 and Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6, so I got some coverage in the ultra wide range and the portrait range. However, I'm not quite satisfied in this consumer camera; I have the urge to upgrade to a Prosumer or Professional/FF body. I have a friend who is willing to sell me his used Canon 5D MK1 for $450. I want to know if I should sell my Sigma to own a 5D for portraiture and the T3i as...

Hi, I'm here to get some second opinions on my desire to upgrade or add to my bag. So far I own a Canon Rebel T3i with a Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6. I have been shooting for long enough and I don't see myself staying within crop sensors any longer. I used to shoot film completely so I need the full frame to fulfill my cravings. However, I also want to have video capability so that I can produce videos as well. Right now, with the T3i and Sigma, I can probably sell the T3i for around $400-500. As...

Hi, so I have some money to blow on some nice new lenses to replace the kits. I find myself doing a lot of landscape pictures, really looking for and want the ultra wide range, to get past that 18mm. But I also want a nice walk around lens. I have $1000 to drop, but would like to keep it around $800 if possible. So my question/predicament is; Should I buy an UWA lens such as the Sigma 10-20 for around $300 and have $600-700 leftover for something else, or Tokina 11-16 and have some $400-500...

Hi, I'm a relatively new hobbyist with photography. I currently have the Canon 650D w/ the included 18-55mm IS II Kit Lens. I am fairly happy with the quality from it when taking family portraits and foodtography, etc.  I'm now deciding on which lens to purchase for my upcoming trip to Hong Kong. While my 18-55mm does the job. I thinking of going for a wider lens. Though I'm not too sure which one to go for.  The purpose of this purchase may seem a little odd or stupid but I want to be able...

I'm looking to upgrade my system soon and I have a bit of a dilemma. I'm looking to get more into landscape photography over the course of the summer as it is something I enjoy doing. However, I can't decide what would be a wiser investment - a wider lens or a better body. I've looked around and have narrowed my choices down based on specs and cost to the Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 lens and the D7000 body. The Sigma gets some good reviews, seems to perform well for what I want and is within budget....

Hello old friends,Its good to be here once again. I would appreciate your help on which lens to buy for a holiday in Italy. I am considering the sigma 1o-2o and the tamron 1o-24. I realize they have been compared to death on and off these forums. However, my needs are not very demanding. As a casual holiday shooter I expect either lenses optics would be acceptable to me. I would like to know which lens would be better for real world use in this case. This will be the ONLY lens I take along...
