I use old M42 and PK(A) lenses with this camera; they work very well. Additionally the old Pentax-Flash AF500FTZ works with A-TTL. High ISO and even JPEG ist very good (s. below). It's much fun to use this camera. Problems: One should use natural color mode to get excellent picture quality; standardmode is too oversaturated. One can use manual WB with ncandescent light; but fine-tuning would be fine.

Purchased this on ebay brand new for $550CAD (~490US, tax and shipping included). Essentially this is a re-badged Pentax *ist DS2. What I like about this camera is its image quality and its ease-of-use. Although I am new to D-SLR, I owned a SLR-like Kodak P850 before and using this samsung takes me only half hour. Wow. Penta-prism viewfinder providing larger field-of-view than its cousins (K110D, K100D, DL, etc) and its competitors (Rebel XT, Nikon D50). Compatibility with all Pentax ...

Excellent camera and a bargain compared to identical Pentax K110 Just bought a GX-1S as a replacement for a Fuji Finepix S602Z. Really impressed with it. Really fast with short shutter lag. Got a kit from Jessops with gadget bag, 50-200 and 18-55 zooms all for £399. Bargain all round exactly the same physically as Pentax K110 but over £100 cheaper. Mark Problems: No problems so far, although I would like to get a detachable carry strap, as the standard one twists round.

This compact little DSLR is so much fun to use and an excellent value if you already own Pentax glass and are a Wintel user (see Mac restriction below.) Though I own a couple digital EOS cameras, it is a true joy to use this camera with my manual focus lenses (KA, K and screw-mount). Image quality is quite good though the auto white balance is not as accurate as Canon's. Images appear more contrasty on the LCD than they are. Problems: Many brands of alkalines will provide insufficient power ...

My first full size digital since the 35mm days. I am tickled pink. Just got it at PCNation.com for $590 w/lens and free 3-day ship as of August 2006. WHAT A DEAL. http://www.pcnation.com/web/details.asp?item=K31302 Very pleased so far especially with performance using old 35mm lenses. Bolted on my old Tamron 70-210 using the manual K mount and with one menu setting change, it flys. You really need a KA mount (w/AE position) for point/shoot but a K mount works manually just fine. I find ...

This is my first DSLR but not my first Pentax SLR. The camera body seems to be well constructed, if feel solid although a little plastic like. Not anything like the Pentax MX or Super A film bodies. The doors for connections and the SD card seem strudy enough, much better than the rubber cover used on my previous digicam, Nikon CoolPix 5700. It remains to be seen how it will stand the test of time. It is a full featured camera for those looking for a do all camera. Pentax seems to have done ...

We all compare cameras vs what we have used in the past...and yes, I DO OWN THIS CAMERA. In the past I have owned, or currently own, the following digital cameras: Canon 20D, Canon D30, Canon G5, Nikon D70s, Nikon D50, Pentax DS, Panasonic Lumix FZ-20, Lumix FZ30 and Lumix FX7. These are the cameras I judge the Samsung GX-1S against. I chose the GX1S because I missed the bright and large viewfinder on my old Pentax DS on which I used many manual focus K mount and M42 mount (Zeiss) lenses. ...

Great camera for it's price, but can't give it 55555 in rating. Very solid and feels much better then C300D/C350D (Rebel/RebelXT). If you were thinking to get Pentax ist DL or DS - forget it and go get Samsung :) Another thing, can't say how good they will be in constant load, i mean after a year i would be able to say "Hey, this is a reliable one!" but right now i just feel good about it ;) Image quality: RAW is good, JPEG sucks Ease of use: Menu items are too numerous and digged one after ...
