The TL500 / EX1 is a very capable and well-featured photographers' compact camera. Its excellent (and articulated) OLED screen helps distinguish it from the conceptually similar Panasonic LX3. Overall it's among the best compact cameras available if the super-bright lens is more important to your type of shooting than overall zoom reach.

Photographers looking for something smaller than a DSLR that gives shooting flexibility.
Not the perfect all-round or travel camera, due to its short (but bright) zoom. It's also a bit short for traditional portraits.

Samsung EX1 Review
By: Mat Gallagher, What Digital Camera

The EX1 is worth considering. It has a wide range of features, an impressive lens, and a stunning screen. It’s a lot of fun to use, with only a slight irritation of functions not working together. It’s not the smallest and is currently far from the cheapest; it lacks HD movie but produces great images and is a great choice for travel and portraits. |
