Pentax Q

Its 2013, the second generation Q10 model has been out for a while but this is the camera to get for several reasons: 1) The price has come done to must have levels 2) The more linear design is just beautifully simple and eligant 3) You really aren`t going to notice the extra spec of the Q10 for the vast majority of real world shooting I'm from the SLR stable, started with an OM1 30 years ago, been through the digital point and shoots, advanced onto DSLRs and never looked back....until now! ...

I have used many cameras in my photo career of 43 years. The Pentax although small is a great performer. Small sensor yes performs great in spite of that sensor has great potential for telephoto work with the right combination ex I use my 50mm 1.4 screw mount Pentax lens and I get results that would shock most on how good it is. The Q deserves five stars for build quality, innovation, size, features, and superb image quality: all of which makes it a camera that's just pure fun to use. The addition of firmware 1.10 puts it over the top by adding focus peaking and shake reduction for ALL Q-mount and adapted mount lenses which means with a little care it's almost impossible to produce an unplanned out-of-focus image. Hesitated to buy as the price was way to high at launch and was a little afraid of the sensor size... But took the plunge when the prize went to normal (apr. 450 EUR for the double lens kit). Was amazed by the IQ - much better than expected. At lower ISOs - if correctly exposed - its hard to tell the difference from DSLR shots. The camera itself is built like a tank, has enough weight and heft even for chubby male fingers... Its a plain fun to use this tiny spy camera! Only my K7 DSLR stays ...
