I have a Pentax ist DL and a K-x. As I live in Brazil it is very difficult to find Pentax equipment here. Now I have the opportunity of buy an used K-7 with 30,000 shutter actuations and 18-55WR for a good price. How does the K-7 compare with the K-x, AF, IQ, etc.? What about to change the ist DL or K-x by the K-7? Thanks, Danton

I have a Pentax Kx which I dropped and damaged, I had it repaired but it is not the same. I am looking to upgrade but will need some help  and guidance to decide between K 50 or K 5 11s. I use my camera for taking photos of wildlife, nature and children. Any help will be appreciated.

Hello I have a Pentax K-x camera and an AF-540FGZ flash. I bought a Hama flash bracket. https://www.hama.com/00006812/hama-flash-bracket-30-x-180-mm I wish to mount the camera and the flash side by side and use the internal K-x flash as trigger master for fill-in, and the 540FGZ as the slave bounce whenever a reflective ceiling/surface near is available. If not, use the internal and 540FGZ direct in tandem. My problem: Since the Hama bracket is not dedicated 540FGZ only works in Automatic...

Hi all, I bought the Sigma 50-500 DG APO HSM last sping and used it extensively through the summer and fall but it's been mostly idle this winter (very cold here in the NE US). I did take it out on a few very cold days but made sure NOT to use the autofocus, having read about some problems with that in cold weather. Yesterday it was sunny and we got a few degrees above freezing so I used autofocus quite a bit. I wasn't terribly pleased with any of the results, but my subjects were mostly...

Maybe I'm a little spoiled...  I've had my K-x for a few years now and I really like it quite a bit.  I still have the kit lens, and for general stuff it's OK.  But trying to do some product shots with a blown out background or any shot where the background is bright yields some unpleasantness - I don't know if the coating is bad or it's a poor lens design or what, but the contrast goes in the crapper with backlight.  In general, things also seem a bit soft. Before entering the digital realm,...

It would make perfect sense to be able to have one control dial control shutter speed, the other ISO and for the aperture ring to control aperture. I can't seem to configure this behaviour though. I can set the control dials to control the appropriate parameters in Tv mode, but that doesn't work with non-A lenses and in any case isn't designed for what I want. The only options for M mode are which dial does aperture and which shutter speed. If you use a manual lens, one control dial becomes...

Hello everyone, first post here. I recently stumbled on my old K1000, and found that I had several lenses that were in very good condition. About two months ago I purchased a D5100 with a 18-55mm kit lens. The lens isn't bad, but not exceptional either. On eBay I noticed there are two types of adapters available for my Nikon, one with glass for infinity and one without. I was hoping anyone with a similar experience could enlighten me on the image consequences of both. Most adapters I find are...

I thought I used to be able to get ISO 200 on my Pentax K-x digital SLR. Now only auto ISO 400 shows as lowest number. I can't seem to change. I must have pushed the wrong button one day to set the camera to this but have no idea what I did or how to change it. Any ideas

I have an older Pentax K-x body which is obviously not very valuable now, and a couple APS-c cheap entry lenses in the 18-55 and 50-200 ranges. But I also have  a nice FA 1:1.4 50mm and a Sigma 1:1.8 EX DG 28m Macro.  I think both of these are decent lenses, someone correct me if I am wrong, full frame lenses. My daughter needs  a bigger lens for her highschool yearbook work. I am in a quandary as to my options.  I'd like to buy a good 50x500mm zoom in the $1500 range, but I cannot decide if...

Hello there, the case is basically quite simple. I started my photography-life with a Olympus C8080 Wide-Zoom. Then after some years I progressed to a Pentax K-X..including two kit-lenses and a third one for general use. I was a bit lazy with the pentax and relied heavily on Automatic Mode…and then sold the camera. Now I have a Sony RX100, with which I am really, really satisfied. And also I adjusted myself to either manual mode, or other the “P” mode to check what the cam would suggest. What...
