Hi all, I've been reading some interesting articles about finding stolen cameras including searching for images that contain the serial number of your camera or your name in the "photographer" fields of the EXIF or IPTC data. Using ACDSee I am not seeing any entry in the field for serial number for my Pentax K3 or K3 II. I downloaded PhotoME and that seems to agree that one of my raw DNG files does indeed not contain a serial number. Can this be right? I heard that the K7 does indeed record...
I have a k-3ii that I purchased new from B & W about six months ago. I have worked my way through Pentax digital cameras starting with the 1st DS, k10, k7, k5, k3 and now the k-3ii. I have NEVER had a problem like this before. I always kept my camera on auto focus, single shot, center spot, using the shutter button half push to gain focus. After reading some articles, I changed to back button (focus lock button), continuous focus, using the shutter button to only fire off the shot. That...
Hi, I'm a long time Pentax user (since film camera days). My first DSLR was the *istDS, and I've moved up through the K10, K20, and finally the K7 which I bought at B&H in May 2009. It's served me faithfully but I'm long overdue for an upgrade. Since 2009 my financial situation has gotten quite a bit worse, so I'm really trying to maximize camera for money spent. The first Pentax K3 looks to be pretty much exactly what I need for the best price. The price looks like it's dropped a bit (and...
At this moment I’m shooting with a Pentax K-7/K10, which are both fine camera’s but I need an upgrade. De K-7 has recently past de 150.000 clicks and the front-wheel doesn’t work that well anymore (sometimes it gives random values for apertures, very annoying). And the K10 only has a global af-tuning system so I can’t quickly change lenses. A logical upgrade for me would be a K-5II(s), K-3 of K-3II. But I have doubt about sticking with Pentax because I want a full-frame sensor and better...
Hey guys, My father used to collect Pentax cameras and lenses until he finally moved on to digital cameras in the mid 2000s and I recently found half a dozen or so when digging through boxes in our attic. I'm far from knowledgable on cameras (I know what ISO, shutter speed etc mean but that's where it ends...) and understood that the old lenses can still be used although you'll have to manually focus them. The lenses I found were: 2 big zoom lenses (forgot to write down the type), both...
My lightweight set-up includes a K-5, K5IIs, 31mm, 77mm, 60-250mm and Ricoh GR. I would like the option of something wider but want to keep size and weight in keeping with the above. Some years ago I had the 15mm Ltd SMC on my K-7 and found it disappointing for a Ltd lens; only under ideal lighting, stopped down and with careful composition of a flat plane of focus did it render sharp, contrasty images. I know there were allegedly some quality control issues in the early days but I'm...
Hi there I own a Pentax K-7 and a 16-50mm f2.8 lens.I shoot mostly during while traveling in major European cities.I am looking to buy a telelens so that I 'll be able to capture details in urban (or natural) enviroment. Anyway, I found these two lenses (used) in the same price (about 130-140$): Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 APO DG Macro Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 APO DG Macro Lens Reviews - Sigma Lenses - Pentax Lens Review Database and SMC Pentax-FA 100-300mm F4.7-5.8 SMC Pentax-FA 100-300mm F4.7-5.8...
