I just bought a body-only K5-IIs.  Among Pentax AF lenses, what would you recommend as a first lens for these amounts to spend:  0-$200, $300-400, $500-900?

I have just bought this camera, and up until now, with other cameras, I have found Photo Ninja to offer the best raw conversions right out of the box, compared to Aperture (next in line), DXO (next best), and Lightroom (4th best). I realize that all of these can be tweaked to achieve the same output, but PN gives me the results with the least effort.  All I have to do is tell it that I want a landscape preset or a portrait preset, and everything else I want done can be done to the resulting...

Can anyone confirm, deny, or comment on: Any differences in corner/edge sharpness on these lenses when paired with the K5 II vs. the K5 IIs? The background is that I am not satisfied with the AF on my k5 and plan to upgrade to a K5II or K5 IIs now that the prices have come down. The question is, get the k5 IIs for potentially improved corner sharpness on the wide angles or save the cash and just get the K5 II. Anyone notice their corners of their DA 15 sharpen up noticeably with the K5...

Just got myself a K-5 IIs. I have couple of doubts regarding the camera. 1. When I switch the camera on, some kind of scratching sound comes from the camera. First I thought it is dust removal, but then I turned startup dust removal off and the sound is still there every time I turn on the camera. 2. Viewfinder is very warm compared to my K-x. When I compare both side by side, K-x viewfinder shows colors that are much closer to actual whereas K-5 IIs viewfinder is warm. Any...

Since moving to m4/3, I'm using my K5 only with Tamron 70-200/2.8. It's a fantastic combo when AF hits the target, however the consistency of the AF is rather disappointing, especially when shooting at f2.8-3.5 in non-perfect lighting conditions. I do know that the K5II AF is a major step forward compared to K5, however I would like to ask the owners of the K5II/s and Tamron 70-200mm about their experience and if they see a noticeable improvement over K5 with this particular lens. Do you...

Since nobody at PF wants to answer, I'll ask this here.... I have a DA17-70 and while I really love it, I'm finding getting the focus calibrated at infinity is rather hard. First of all if you let this lens focus to infinity at 17mm, the edges are soft @ f4. If you turn the ring to the stop (past infinity) they sharpen right up and the center loses focus slightly. Looks like field curvature to me, but even closer objects snap into focus, so this is somewhat perplexing. I can live with just...

I'm looking at buying either the K3 or the Nikon D7100, which will be used mostly for landscape and macro work.  The K3 is winning right now, especially with its weather sealing and its matching weather-sealed 100mm macro.  However, the D7100 has a significant advantage over everyone else in holding details in highlights (as per dpreview's tests), and more than a few flowers I shoot are white, and have always been a challenge with my current Canon 60d.  It looks like the K5 IIs clips...

Hi, I recently purchased a new K-5 IIs and was very surprised to see "this" happen. Anyone know or have a hunch what may have caused such an undesirable effect? It's happened only twice since I've had the camera, but I'd appreciate some reassurance that I did not receive a lemon. No special filters were applied, the flash did not fire and there were no strong light sources behind the subjects (subsequent pictures were fine). Taken with the 18-55 AL kit lens, that I purchased LN from KEH....

Okay I am 18 trying to get my first PRO Camera/dSLR. My Dad was a Pro in film but it's a new age: Digital. So I have my eye on a few cameras and I'm freaking myself out trying to pick. I know my way around cameras very well, I can use any single one you might put in my hands and under 10 minutes I will figure it out usually. I am very smart and I know my way around Picture taking techniques and also a darkroom. I also wanna throw out there/brag about myself a bit that I have an IQ of 150...

When I had my K5 I was able to produce sharp results in PSE from handheld bracketed shots.  With my K5 IIs I no longer can and and get a blurred result when I use the auto method in PSE - (I have not figured out how to align the shots manually). Handheld HDRs were not possible for the K7 and the ability to produce sharp results from handheld shots was one of the improvements listed for the K5, but here again the in-camera alignment does not seem to work as well as it did in the K5. I am...
