Since nobody at PF wants to answer, I'll ask this here.... I have a DA17-70 and while I really love it, I'm finding getting the focus calibrated at infinity is rather hard. First of all if you let this lens focus to infinity at 17mm, the edges are soft @ f4. If you turn the ring to the stop (past infinity) they sharpen right up and the center loses focus slightly. Looks like field curvature to me, but even closer objects snap into focus, so this is somewhat perplexing. I can live with just...

I'm looking at buying either the K3 or the Nikon D7100, which will be used mostly for landscape and macro work.  The K3 is winning right now, especially with its weather sealing and its matching weather-sealed 100mm macro.  However, the D7100 has a significant advantage over everyone else in holding details in highlights (as per dpreview's tests), and more than a few flowers I shoot are white, and have always been a challenge with my current Canon 60d.  It looks like the K5 IIs clips...

Hi, I recently purchased a new K-5 IIs and was very surprised to see "this" happen. Anyone know or have a hunch what may have caused such an undesirable effect? It's happened only twice since I've had the camera, but I'd appreciate some reassurance that I did not receive a lemon. No special filters were applied, the flash did not fire and there were no strong light sources behind the subjects (subsequent pictures were fine). Taken with the 18-55 AL kit lens, that I purchased LN from KEH....

Okay I am 18 trying to get my first PRO Camera/dSLR. My Dad was a Pro in film but it's a new age: Digital. So I have my eye on a few cameras and I'm freaking myself out trying to pick. I know my way around cameras very well, I can use any single one you might put in my hands and under 10 minutes I will figure it out usually. I am very smart and I know my way around Picture taking techniques and also a darkroom. I also wanna throw out there/brag about myself a bit that I have an IQ of 150...

When I had my K5 I was able to produce sharp results in PSE from handheld bracketed shots.  With my K5 IIs I no longer can and and get a blurred result when I use the auto method in PSE - (I have not figured out how to align the shots manually). Handheld HDRs were not possible for the K7 and the ability to produce sharp results from handheld shots was one of the improvements listed for the K5, but here again the in-camera alignment does not seem to work as well as it did in the K5. I am...

Hello I would like to buy DSLR with the same weather-resistance capabilities as Pentax K-5IIs.There has to be weather-resistante lens also available and able to withstand a lot of rain.(Pentax DA 18-135mm WR didn't have any trouble to resist week of constant rain in NZ. I had it in my hand for whole day. Lens was sheltered only in the night). Does any system offer such an WR combination? If yes, can you suggest as well good quality lens with basic range (enough; preferable quality rather then...

Hello, I would like to get feedback from other users who have upgraded from the K-5 to the K-5 II or II S. My experience with Pentax started in 2010, with the K7 and a few Limited lenses (43, 70, 15). I really like the built, ergonomy, view finder, WR, and, small size of the K7 and K5. Those qualities and the Limited are the reasons why I chose Pentax DSLR, and, why I keep using them. Now, I'm very happy with the results with the K-5 and those Limited lenses for travel photography (see Japan...

I am looking to buy the Pentax K5 IIs with the 31mm limited prime lens. I need another zoom lens that will cover the rest for me until I can afford to start collecting more lenses. I have been looking at the obvious 18-135mm, but read some bad reviews about it. So is there an alternative? Or would it be better for me to buy the 70mm limited prime in addition to the 31mm? I think that I am right in thinking that there isn't a better camera out there in the same price range. I have been looking...

I am in the market for a Pentax K5 iis, nobody in North America offers this camera with the 18-135mm kit lens but I found a pretty good deal on ebay from Taiwan. I know that if I had to warranty the camera it would be a PIA but other than that, is there any reason not to buy it? I wouldn't have to pay 12% tax, this camera and lens in Canada would cost me just under $2000, on ebay I would save almost $500. I could get the K30 18-135mm in Canada for $1k + tax and save myself the headache......
