Hi, I recently acquired a Pentax K-500 with two lenses (18 - 55mm, 50 - 200mm) and today I made a very stupid mistake. I was going to shoot some more stuff around the house, so I just kept the camera (with telephoto lens attached) on a table. When I returned, I discovered that just before I had kept the camera, someone had spilt some water there. To the best of my knowledge, the lens glass, sensor and most of the outer body was untouched, except for the bottom face of the body (including the...
I NEED TO BUY A NEW DSLR CAMERA. POSSIBLY THE PENTAX K-500. WOULD ANYONE BE KIND ENOUGH TO CONFIRM TO ME IF THE LENSES FROM MY OLD PENTAX ME SUPER FIT? THESE ARE THE SMC 28 mm /50 mm / 80-200 mm LENSES. THANK-YOU FOR SHARING & YOUR TIME SPARED. RGDS VICTOR-MALTA e.ADDRESS...firstname.lastname@example.org
I had a K110D years ago and it worked okay with manual A, M and K type lenses. I think I had to set some custom function to allow use of the aperture ring on the lens. Does the K500 still allow this function? Does the focus peak feature work with manual lenses? I'm not sure what is happening to the K-50/500 with the K-S1 out now, but I see the K-500 is $399. Might be a good time to get back into an SLR again. BTW, I now have a Nikon J1. I like the compact size but it struggles with noise at...

I'm just looking at the direction the features are going in. Dust Removal: SP coating and CMOS sensor operation vs Sensor movement w SP coating on low pass filter. So ultrasonic DR on a Pentax entry level DSLR. No more clunky sensor thrashing. A return of entry level DSLRs with PEF support. Only rated for use down to 32F, not the 14F of the K-500. Is this the first entry level without wireless flash support with the on-board flash or is it a return? I don't know the specs of old DS and DL...

My daughter is looking for her first DSLR and has a eye on the K-500. I looked up the differences to the K-50 on the german Pentax homepage and found: lack of weather sealing no electronic horizon no DOF preview When comparing the different homepages of Pentax / Ricoh, the german page says it has a focus confirmation in the viewfinder, the UK and US page has no information about this. The german homepage leaves out the DOF preview, the US page says it has. I would appreciate, if someone can...
