I would like to have one camera with a optical VF, the Pentax series seems to has the brightest OVF in the price range I am interested in. I am vacillating between the K30 and K50 ( rechargeable AA's ) anyone with any suggestions/tips please respond. I intend to use it primarily with a Sigma 50mm F2.8 macro Thank you, Ziji

I've done a lot of research and both the K-50 and the NX2000 will give me what I want as far as performance. I'm leaning toward the Samsung because it's smaller, lighter and cheaper. The only thing that makes me go back and think about the K-50 is the matter or weather sealing. I hope to take this camera into the backcountry fairly often, that's why I started looking at mirrorless, reduced bulk and weight but I need something that will hold up even if the weather doesn't. I'm not sure if I'll...

I had a K110D years ago and it worked okay with manual A, M and K type lenses. I think I had to set some custom function to allow use of the aperture ring on the lens. Does the K500 still allow this function? Does the focus peak feature work with manual lenses? I'm not sure what is happening to the K-50/500 with the K-S1 out now, but I see the K-500 is $399. Might be a good time to get back into an SLR again. BTW, I now have a Nikon J1. I like the compact size but it struggles with noise at...

I currently own the K10D and am looking with envy at the K-30 or K-50 models for their larger pixel count and much improved high iso performance, amongst other things. However I did wonder if the improved high iso was at the expense of base iso? I'd appreciate some feedback from users who have upgraded from the K10D. Besides being a bit bigger are the raw files just as clean at base iso? Are they just as maleable in post work?

So I have potentially narrowed down my choices here after some help over the past day. After learning both cameras will offer AF adjust, and knowing they both have the same Prism OVF and IQ, I checked prices. They both sell used for about the same, The k30 is going for $425 new on Amazon, while the K50 is $450 new everywhere but with a memory card for free. Calling the price a wash, is there much different between the two? DPR doesn't do much good as I can't find an individual review to...

I used to have a K5IIs, and I know that one has it. I also figure the K3 does too, but what about cheaper models? Does the K50 or K500? What about the DC'd K30? Anybody know? --"Run to the light, Carol Anne. Run as fast as you can!"

Hello all, I'm in the process of choosing a lens for my Pentax K-50 for a backcountry hiking trip west and could use some solid input from those more seasoned. I've been using the kit lenses that came with the K-50 and on the whole I am pleased with their performance given they are kit lenses. However, I noticed that images are softer and a bit less sharp than I desire, especially on the 18mm end. My key needs in a lens(es) are: Sharpness, Low light performance, at least 35mm (18mm would be...

Hi, I've decided that I want to take up landscape photography especially when I go hiking.  I've done a lot of looking at different cameras and decided that the K-50/K-30 is the only real competitor in the sub $1000 category for me on account of weather sealing. It looks to be a great camera, my only concern is that 16.2 MP might not be enough for producing stunning high-res photos that I want so that I can use them for computer wallpapers and smaller prints.  I'd also like to do some large...

I have a pretty outdated Nikon D40 and I'm looking to upgrade. I've looked at many, many DSLRs out there right now and I have no idea what to get. I prefer to stay Nikon since I already have lens and I'm looking for a body only. I have looked at the D5300, D3300, and the Pentax K-50. Nikon looked superior in image quality to the K-50 so maybe not the K-50. I also saw a refurbished D7000 for $619 which I am seriously considering. Budget is a bit tight so I'm trying to keep it under $700. I'm...
