Hello everyone, I am choosing from two cameras: Pentax K-50 (with a stock sense 18-135) and Sony A58 (with two lenses: 18-55 and 55-300). A58 is cheaper, but K-50 is weather sealed and has an AF assist lamp. I read a lot about both of them, but still did not manage to make up my mind. Which camera you would recommend to go for and why? I do not know much about photography (just started couple of weeks ago), so all hints do matter. Many thanks for your opinions. Cheers, Alex
Hi, I want to upgrade the firmware on my K50. Unfortunately my computer's built-in card-reader has stopped working, and so far I am struggling with fixing it as the menu is in French and my understanding of that language does not extend to computer terminology. According to the Pentax (well, Ricoh really) site I can do the update by connecting the K50 to the machine by USB cable (but that's all it says. My attempts haven't worked. What I did was: - download the upgrade - as no menu or...
I bought a K50 a few weeks ago. Nice camera, but the battery needs recharging for a second time after only 150 shots. Can't remember how many it managed the first time, about 50 perhaps, but I did spend a lot of time going through menus, setting things up and so on to start with. Having to charge it the first time did surprise me because I would have expected more from the battery on my Canon SX50, but maybe I spent so long playing with the settings..... Anyway, this is how it has been...
Hi, I'll try to keep this brief, I posted something similar in the micro 4/3 group. I have micro 4/3 and a Pentax k50 and I'm trying to have less gear and gear more focused on my interests. I like to do family portraits (mainly of my 6 year old son), pictures of dogs, but my main love is bird photography. I'm trying to figure out if the Pentax K3 would be a big upgrade over my k50 for birding. I'd also be looking to add a longer lens (55-300 is what I have now), something that can go to...
I'm in no rush as this won't matter until summer, but I'm asking now because I'm thinking about it. Our summer trip next year will include kayaking around the Bruce Peninsula in Ontario. I'd like to take my K-3 and/or K-50 along with WR lenses. Even though they're WR, I'd still like to have them in a dry bag except when shooting. While looking for one, I notice that there are (at least) two types: coated nylon , and thicker PVC. The lighter weight appeals to me for packability, but I don't...
Hello there! I am new to the whole digital camera scene and i am needing some advice. I am traveling to Iceland in the next few months and I want to buy a camera that is weatherproof and would take some good photos. I have seen a couple different types of cameras but one that keep popping up is the Pentax K-50. I want to try to stay within a $200-$400 dollar budget but I want a quality camera to help capture my trip. Is that a good reliable camera? And if it is not what are some good brands?
