Will Pentax K-5IIs be fully compatible with D FA* 70-200 f2.8? Is it too early to know? If it will be one of the best lenses for my camera, K-5IIs, I will wait for it to become available. If it won't be then I'll purchase some other lens now while prices are reduced. The reason I ask, the other new lens, D FA 150-450, has a review on Pentax forum which specifies older cameras will not fully support all of the lens's focusing features. (The K-S1, K-S2, and K-3 would have full compatibility and...

I read in the FF discussion thread some comments about how SR/IS can affect the image that has been auto focussed. The primary concern was that the sensor shifts and so will not hold what was in focus resulting in a blurry/soft image. While I have noticed on my K5II that some images (< 5%) are not as sharp, I attributed them to missing the focus by AF mechanism. Until now I thought that the SR movement is only in tenths of mm, almost invisible to the eye; however ..I saw the link below and if...

I have a K5lls and am curious what is the advantage of "back button focusing" as compared to 1/2 depression of top button and where do I find it on my K5lls camera? Thanks in advance, Tom W(ret) --...a bad picture is like a missed putt, it's never your fault.http://photographybythomaswhitehurst.zenfolio.com

Hi there, I’ve been reading dpreview for years but this is my first post. After I've edited my RAW files using DXO optics PRO 9 I export them into JPEG. The problem is the JPEG turns out different from the correction preview window in DXO. The images underneath might give you an idea. In the JPEG the saturation (I think) looks very low.The problem gets even bigger in skin tones. I’ve opened the JPEG using several programs but they all show this. My monitor is calibrated and my DXO is set to...

Hello everybody, six weeks ago my photo bag got stolen with all my gear in it. There was a Pentax K5 in it with a 50-135 F2.8 and a 16-50 F2.8 lens. It took me years of saving before being able to get that gear together. Now I can not live without a camera and a friend borrowed me his old Oly E500 in the meanwhile. It's not bad but I need something a bit sturdier. My wife offered me an old Nikon EM with a 50mm lens for Christmas and my best friend also is a Nikon user. I already toyed at the...

I have a APS-C format Pentax K5II that serves well for my general photo needs like travel and high aperture needs, I am very much satisfied with it, However, the moment I start looking into bokeh, lower fstop, blurred background.. I decided that I need the full frame, just like the film days. I have checked D600 and it seems to fit what I need although an older FF model will also work for me. To help narrow down, here are my requirements: - No need for high Mega pix, anything around 16-20...

I wanted to get the general workflow how to handle raws. Presently, I save files from my K5II in RAW+ as DNG. - They all get saved in date dir via Picasa import - I then need to apply lens correction for each file - Tweak, apply some in camera settings if I wanted - Then save as jpeg, this takes a lot of time (in hrs for say 100 pics) What is the advantage here by going raw route .. if I can apply camera custom settings and lens correction in camera. --Thanks, JK

From the forum discussions, I know that quite a few of you have the HD 16-85mm DC WR lens. I bought one two days ago. The fit and finish of the lens is good. I did some quick test on decentering using Zeiss chart and then took some indoor brick wall kind of test shots. It seems it has no decentering. The sharpness seems to be more even than Pentax 18-135mm lens whose design emphasizes center sharpness. The color rendition, as many of you know, is a bit neutral than the vibrant color of Pentax...

Hello there, I posted in Pentax forum (my first ever), but it is not published. I guess it is against the rules. So I repost it here. I currently own k5iis, FA*24, F28mm, FA43 limited, FA100mm Macro. Since 2014, I I have been trying to buy a wide-standard fast zoom lens that I can use for travel, and a prime tele lens for birding. I like DA*16-50mm and DA*300mm. However I am concerned about SDM failure. I do not see Pentax releasing replacements soon, thus I am planing to sell my Pentax gears...

This is my first DSLR, and I have never sold any gears. My question to you is, given the following...
