Good morning from Canada, I am, as my profile indicates retired and will be spending a lot of my time painting......any subject material. My requirements are to have a faster AF, wider ISO, reliability and weather protection vs the ISD which I have now (and still love) I have been saving up for a K-3 camera to maybe buy in early 2015. So now I pose the questions; Seeing the K-5 11s is very affordable now vs the K3 (still out of reach) would it be the most practical for my purposes, ie fast...

So I have potentially narrowed down my choices here after some help over the past day. After learning both cameras will offer AF adjust, and knowing they both have the same Prism OVF and IQ, I checked prices. They both sell used for about the same, The k30 is going for $425 new on Amazon, while the K50 is $450 new everywhere but with a memory card for free. Calling the price a wash, is there much different between the two? DPR doesn't do much good as I can't find an individual review to...

I used to have a K5IIs, and I know that one has it. I also figure the K3 does too, but what about cheaper models? Does the K50 or K500? What about the DC'd K30? Anybody know? --"Run to the light, Carol Anne. Run as fast as you can!"

Hi Everyone; I've shot a fair number of pictures with my K3.  This is quite by far the most satisfying camera I have ever used.  That is saying a bit as I've a number in my camera cabinet and many photographs over the years. Anyway after using the K5 for awhile I thought I'd not use the Hi Light correction feature on the K3 and instead shoot with -0.7 EV and increase the brightness in post. I always shoot raw or raw+.  I thought that this might provide a bit better control than activating the...

Ahoy! I have a very nice set of items which includes a boxed (like new) K-5 body with low actuations, Tamron SP AF 17-35mm F/2.8-4 Di LD (IF) Aspherical (unboxed with caps hood) and a Tamron SP AF 17-50mm F/2.8 Di-II XR LD (IF) Aspherical (boxed/immaculate).  I'm thinking of listing as a bundle, but possibly as separates (I haven't decided yet).  Anyone in the UK/EU interested in these items as I'll either list them in the DPR classifieds or other private classifieds/evilBay/Amazon. I'm...

I bought a K5 a few years ago and have been getting along fine with it.  A few months ago I picked up a friends Canon 7D and loved the size and feel of the grip.  Since then the feel in hand of my K5 has been less than pleasant.  I know you are technically supposed to support the camera with your left hand and just shoot with your right, but in between I am usually holding the camera only with my right.  I bought a battery grip, and that helps a ton, but I hate the extra bulk and don't need...

Hello! A few years ago, some of you very kindly offered some advice on buying a camera that would help me continue taking photos. I have a Pentax K5 and it is a good choice. However, some years have passed and I am considering an up-grade. As I mention before, I have serious sight problems and I would like to know if the newer cameras would focus faster and would 'focus peaking' help me. A very good viewfinder is essential and some form of magnification would be helpful. I have looked at the...

I like the feel and handling of the K5, and especially the nice dampened feel of the shutter mechanism. Is there any other brands of DSLR (save for mirrorless) which has a similar feel to the K5's?

Recently my K5 suddenly made all image captures with a strong bluish cast, both with flash (external Vivitar 285) or by available light. I switched to my K20 to finish the job and everything came out fine with that.Once home, I reset the K5 to default settings and the bluish cast went away. Did I do something wrong to cause the issue? I'd like to know so I can avoid it in the future. As usual, I was shooting in RAW in X mode with the flash, and TAV mode for available light.  --Jonathan...
