Hello all, I just recently got elected assistant photo editor for my college's newspaper, and out chief editor doesn't shoot sports or action, so I'm told that I will be cover most or all sporting events for next semester! That being said, I plan on scrapping my K-5, and saving up this summer for a new set up, specifically for sports and action shots. As a college student, I would like to spend under $2,000.  I've heard great things about the 70D, and I was planning on buying the body only...

Leaving pixel shift out of this, I noticed just the colors as shown in the dpreview studio shot are very different between the K-3 and K-3ii. The reds in the K-3ii are considerably more muted, skin tones especially look a lot less plastic as a result. The sharpening algorithm in the K-3ii seems more sophisticated. The K-5ii is only available in the old studio test scene, but as far as I can tell the default saturation is really high, and both reds and greens almost fluorescent. It seems...

I've been using Vivitar 283s and 285s for thirty-some years, one on camera, others triggered by slaves, or often just an on-camera flash bounced off walls or ceiling. There is always a bit of trial and error involved in getting perfect exposure. I would like to get the best dedicated shoe mount flash I can for candid people photography. Is the Pentax AF540FGZ II my best bet, or is something from Metz or Sigma going to do the job as well or better? --Jonathan BlocherInstructor of Art, Design,...

I have conflicting information. I viewed a u tube video specifying that a FF lens on an APC camera might give less sharp results than an APC lens even the kit APC lens on an APC camera. It also stated any flaws in the lens are magnified by over 200%. see 18:16 minutes into https://youtu.be/IsWGkUT5A_Y Then I see the images posted from DFA* 70-200mm on K-3. Looks like the u tube video doesn't apply to this lens. I have K-5IIs and am considering the purchase of this lens. So far the DFA*...

Hi, one of my favorite web shops closes and sales everything with 25 % rebate. I ordered a split screen focusing screen for less than 60 EUR. I bought it, as I always have a slight front focus when using manual lenses (no matter if I use the focus confirmation or the focusing screen). I just installed it. But even when I focus as exactly as possible, the front focus is there again. At least it is now more consistant :-/ I guess, if the screen could be adjusted a bit up or down, this would...

In the DPR camera comparison tool, the following figures are given for viewfinder magnification Fuji X30 (⅔" sensor) : 0.65x Olympus Pen-F (M43 sensor) : 1.23x Panasonic GX-7 (M43 sensor) : 1.39x Panasonic GX-8 (M43 sensor) : 1.54x Pentax K-5 (APS-C) : 0.92x What I want to know is simply this: how big is the image in the viewfinder? I do NOT want to know about coverage, which is a related factor I know, but isn't what I'm asking about. The M43 figures above do seem to make sense, no doubt...

I have a k-3ii that I purchased new from B & W about six months ago. I have worked my way through Pentax digital cameras starting with the 1st DS, k10, k7, k5, k3 and now the k-3ii.  I have NEVER had a problem like this before. I always kept my camera on auto focus, single shot, center spot, using the shutter button half push to gain focus.   After reading some articles, I changed to back button (focus lock button), continuous focus, using the shutter button to only fire off the shot.  That...

Hi, I ask a little help. I got used FA* 300/4.5 lens today, and I have tried it now with K-5 body. The lens seems to work basically, but then I noticed that all shots are more or less overexposed, except wide open f/4.5 shots. the smaller the aperture selected from the camera, the more overexposed images...So it seems that the lens doesn't stop down aperture. My other lenses works well with my K-5 body. I tried to clean electrical contacts, no help. Then I tried camera's M-Manual mode, and...
