I bought a K5 a few years ago and have been getting along fine with it.  A few months ago I picked up a friends Canon 7D and loved the size and feel of the grip.  Since then the feel in hand of my K5 has been less than pleasant.  I know you are technically supposed to support the camera with your left hand and just shoot with your right, but in between I am usually holding the camera only with my right.  I bought a battery grip, and that helps a ton, but I hate the extra bulk and don't need...

Hello! A few years ago, some of you very kindly offered some advice on buying a camera that would help me continue taking photos. I have a Pentax K5 and it is a good choice. However, some years have passed and I am considering an up-grade. As I mention before, I have serious sight problems and I would like to know if the newer cameras would focus faster and would 'focus peaking' help me. A very good viewfinder is essential and some form of magnification would be helpful. I have looked at the...

I like the feel and handling of the K5, and especially the nice dampened feel of the shutter mechanism. Is there any other brands of DSLR (save for mirrorless) which has a similar feel to the K5's?

Recently my K5 suddenly made all image captures with a strong bluish cast, both with flash (external Vivitar 285) or by available light. I switched to my K20 to finish the job and everything came out fine with that.Once home, I reset the K5 to default settings and the bluish cast went away. Did I do something wrong to cause the issue? I'd like to know so I can avoid it in the future. As usual, I was shooting in RAW in X mode with the flash, and TAV mode for available light.  --Jonathan...

I have owned a Samsung GX20 for 5 years. Bought at an airport VAT free for just over £300 in 2009. I have put about 10,000 shots on it and it has never let me down. Prices for the GX 20 have now fallen just below the £200 mark. So before they drop too far, i want to up grade. My choice of models are in the heading. A lot of my photography is wildlife, pets, landscapes and nightime astra photography. I have a selection of lenses both auto and manual, having owned Pentax cameras since my first...

I am looking for a second camera to fit in a jeans/ shorts pocket for pics of 3 year old and 3 month old (currently) out and about, and on vacations. Out of these two camera's what would you buy? I am coming from Pentax DSLR's and K-01 and shooting primes, which I will keep for other uses and when the situation calls. Here's my thoughts. Ricoh GR pro's: 1.) APS-C sensor matching the Pentax k-5, in your pocket 2.) snap focus seems like a great idea for my subjects. 3.) Great interface praised...

I'm planning a move from an Olympus E-3 system to Pentax K5iis. I have a pretty good handle of the pros and cons and what I stand to gain and lose, except for flash. I usually use Cactus 5 triggers with two Olympus flashes in manual mode. (FL-36r and FL-50). Some of these questions may be obvious, but not to me since I've been with Olympus for over a decade. Are the triggers generic? Will they work on Pentax? I think, so but thought I'd ask. Can I still use my Olympus flashes in manual mode?...

Dummy me. I went to take photos of the Korean War Vets Flag raising. Took maybe 4 and switched to AFC 'cause they were coming towards me. A little red light started blinking & beeping. It would focus but no photo. Then I found out if I let it continue it would eventually take the photo. I think somehow I turned on the timer. Don't know how to turn it off. HELP! Thanks, Tom W(ret) --...a bad picture is like a missed putt, it's never your fault.http://photographybythomaswhitehurst.zenfolio.com

How are the RX100 II and III compared to the I in terms of usability and functionality? Has the camera developed/matured much on this front? If you use the cameras more advanced and manual features instead of just shooting in Auto mode can you do everything you need to do without having to go into many menu layers? For example setting white balance, bracketing, adjusting exposure, locking focus etc and remembering settings? How do the II and III compared to the I and also to other advanced...

I want to be able to transfer the occasional file from my K-5IIs to an Ipad Mini Retina  so that I can email photos to family and friends.  I would only need to do this  when I am travelling  without my computer, taking advantage of  free wi-fi where I will be staying to connect to the Internet with the ipad. Any suggestions very welcome, especially from those who successfully manage what I am trying to achieve.  Thank you. --David, an Australian living in the Highlands of Scotland a few...
