Really a camera to have always with you. You don't bother about the enviroment where you are. I have also taken some underwater shots which are of perfect quality

I love this camera for what I use it for, a pocket size travel camera. I have taken my Pentax WP to Costa Rica in 06 and Belize this year. It takes great action pictures. The ATM cave pictures from Belize were out of this world. The camera came from ebay at a very low price. It is a great bang around camera that takes great pictures. You will take pictures that no one else can get. This camera is very easy to use. I love it. Problems: Carry an extra battery and get the skin. I have used the ...

Nice camera, waterproof...and aweful. It is a good design, it is attractive, it is easy to use, it has decent battery life, and it really is waterproof. It just doesn't take good pictures. I would guess that 50% of the time its results are sub-standard, and 25% of the time the pictures are so bad they wouldn't be useable. Between underexposing, poor autofocus, and aggressive noise reduction erasing detail, you'll wonder if the camera is really 1 MP instead of 5 MP. Honestly, I've seen ...

Biggest problem: fogging. I purchased the Pentax Optio WP in Sept. 2005 and have been using it consistently since that time. I'll try to keep this review simple; I was prompted to make it due to what I consider a large flaw. I kayak and wanted a camera I could put in my lifejacket pocket and not worry about. Pros: Easy-to-use controls (intuitive), short shutter lag, nice footprint (small), silicone skin, loooong battery life (compared to my old Canon that used AAs), WATERPROOF Cons: No ...

I live in the US Virgin Islands and frequently snorkel. I bought the camera because it looked like a combination of features that would work for me. With reasonable expectations on the part of the user, I would recommend it. It is capable of good underwater photos if.... Mmmm, if. If you can get close to the object (it goes without saying that the water needs to be as clear as possible). If the object is not moving or you get lucky. If it is bright daylight. If you can focus on the small ...

I purchased this camera for everyday point and shoot use. I though that paying a bit extra for a waterproof body was well worth it since I can think of many wet situations where I wouldn't dare to take a regular camera. Lens The first thing that I noticed when I opened the box was that there is no lens cap or lens covering. So now I don't have to worry about getting the camera wet, but I have to constantly worry about a dirty lens, damaging the lens and carrying around lens cleaning gear ...

Works well underwater. You can use the flash.. just don't set underwater mode. You do get bubbles appearing if you use flash underwater so its probably best used for effect. Problems: Bright line appeared on the LCD so it had to be fixed.

Used it in pool and sea...great pics (of turtles...). But comparing to SONY CYber-shot DSC-P5 (3,2MPx)...the images of Sony are generay better (of course not under water:-) ) WP has too much noise. It is a pity because it has great functions like taking night pics but it has much noise. Adjusting of saturation could be more sensitive. The geometry of close vertical objects on the sides of the picture is bad...it is not striaght but to much curved. Macro is No.1*...perfect. Problems: I loved ...

Bought this little guy to shoot primarily in wet environments but mostly above water as I keep a sailboat in the Caribbean. Normally I shoot with a Nikon D70 for surface work and with a Sea&Sea MX10 35mm film camera for diving work. While the Sea&Sea shoots well above water with it's fixed lens, it's bulky and heavy so I added the Pentax Optio WP to the line-up and don't have to worry about destroying the D70. The Optio WP is a very user-friendly, light-weight and of course compact; battery ...
