Brought second hand. This camera along with the S5i are still amongst the best ultra compact digitals out there... Problems: None yet

This is my second digital camera. I was looking for a competent camera that would fit easily into a pocket whilst travelling. It has so far lived up to expectations. The major plusses with the camera are: - excellent selectable options for different types of shots - panorama assist mode (works well with the supplied software) - simplicity of use with the automatic green mode (although you can usually enhance your images by using the features where appropriate) - quite decent movie mode

I have been choosing between Canan Ixus 500, Panasonic Lumix Fx7 and this camera Pentax Optio S5n. Finally I chose Pentax and I should say it is incredible. Menu is easy to use. Fast response when connected to PC. Highst quality images as in Green Mode (fully automated) as when you decide to what to do when. Problems: I'd rather say no problems so far. Petax doesn't aim to do it absolutely suitable. That's why many new users of the camera could find it 'out of focus', 'overexposed' and ...

I bought the Optio S5N at the same time as the Canon SD 300 to test out. For ease of use, the Pentax is quite simple to use and can fit into Altoids can or in my shirt pocket which is why I bought the camera. The quick button made accessing features quite simple. The colors were brighter than the Canon although I had some occasional pictures with the Pentax that seemed blurry whereas with the Canon I didn't but majority of the Pentax pictures turned out well when printed out. You can zoom in ...

I was looking for an ultracompact digital camera and purchased the Pentax Optio S5n. After a couple hundred pictures here is my first ever camera review. Construction: Amazingly small camera with beautiful 2" display that has worked well for me even outside on a sunny day. The rubber thumb grip (strip) really helps me hold this tiny camera. The sliding doors on the two interface ports seem to work better than the plastic plug-type covers on my other camera. The camera is so light it is no ...

Very good camera. It is very small and light, and what is best quite cheap if you compare it with other cameras. For example in EU countryes it is only 260 EUR and most other cameras are quite more expencive. I tested its mpeg4 mode and am very happy with it. The quality is very good on TV, it is maybe just a bit worse than in sd400 but you can have 4 times more taken in SD card with mpeg4 mode. And it is still very good for such a small camera. You can zoom optical before shooting video, ...

The Optio S5n is the fifth evolution of the original Pentax Optio S, which I have had the pleasure of using for a little a year and a half now. This camera still works like a charm, but a few things bother me about it: * Night shots are really not so good. Too much noise, and focussing is a drag; * It's not very fast; * The image quality is just a bit less then I would like. This is also related to the 3.2 megapixel CCD, which is just a little less than I'd like; * The video quality is awful. ...
