Optio S4i - great camera, very good picture quality. This is truly a gem. I pondered a long time and compared the S4, the S4i, Sony P100, Sony T1, and Canon 500. I own a Canon 10D and have missed photo opportunities because I don't have it with me all the time. Browsing through the forums I found a lot of positive and negative opinions. Everybody agrees on the design and usability, the opinions on image quality differ greatly though. Well, mine is just GREAT. Of course it is not the 10D but I ...

i bought this camera for its size and weight. it's the same size as a pack of cigs, and packs a powerful 3x zoom. @ $311 shippped, it was also a steal. the menus are easy to navigate, and features are bountiful. the camera has very little startup and recording lag. pictures record quickly to the SD card. however, image quality, even at highest resolution and lowest compression, leaves much to be desired. pictures in low light are especially poor. my s110 cannon (3 year old, 2MP) took much ...

The Optio S4i is a very neat, very tiny, camera. It looks "cool", gets lots of comments, and you can easily carry it anywhere (which was my goal). It has a 4 mp sensor, and 3x optical zoom. AF/Shutter lag is acceptable. Menu controls are good; there are lots of program modes. Except for having to be careful not to hit the power switch when you mean to press the shutter button, controls are easy to use. I have used the camera for 2 months, and am somewhat ambivalent about it. I love the size ...

Ultra-compact digicam comparison: which ultra-compact camera should I buy? Make sure you read the whole thing – it’ll give you an idea of what to look for yourself. Considered: Fuji F610, Sony T1, Sony T11, Sony P100, Pentax Optio S4i, Canon S500, Nikon 3700/5200. Fuji 610 (72 x 93 x 31 mm) Pros: excellent camera with awesome image quality. Claim that vertical design will limit camera shake – maybe. Video quality excellent at 640 x 480 (30fps). xD picture cards cheap. Cons: Larger than canon ...

Te choice product for the 'point and shoot' market. Why spend aprox. $100 more for the other camera's when this Pentax is smaller and provides all the same features. I've just had 150 photos printed and they look amazing! Problems: None so far. People should keep in mind that this product is a compact and should not be compared to SLRs (of course they will take better pictures but that's not why you buy this camera)!

The main reason you should consider this camera, is because of it's size in combination of the quality and features. The image quality indeed is not the greatest, however looking at the size of the camera it is very acceptable. You can really bring it everywhere without bringing seriouw weight with you. The only real downside, is that it does not have a beam to be able to focus in dark environments. If you're considering this camera, also take a good look at the Canon PowerShot S500, ...

Very bad image quality, though camera is quite small and works allright. Images are very soft with very much noise (even on ISO50). Only in full sunlight image quality is acceptable, images indoors are awful. Did everything to change it, but in automatic mode and with manual settings image quality was bad. Pentax told me the camera was ok, seems they are confident in selling a camera with this bad quality. I advise everyone to look further and not to be seduced by it's small size. I am going ...

A very good camera for the novice picture taker. The size and weight is the biggest plus, which allows you to take this camera anywhere. The camera is loaded with features and the battery life is excellent. Picture quality is very good for this size of camera. Start up time and picture taking time are excellent. I highly recommend this camera. Problems: Has a hard time focusing in low light.
