This is the shoddiest worst camera I've ever owned. I've had it 6 months and the back screen has broken twice. Pentax service is rubbish and nothing is included in the guarantee even after breaking down in the first week of use. Plan on paying 70$ every 3 months for repairs. I'm thinking of just throwing it away and buying a decent camera. Problems: back screen keeps failling. Terrible after-sales service from Pentax.

It has good characteristics by the documentation and attractive cost. But I don't satisfied with the buying. It does not very good, blurred shots at weak light. I got better shots with my previous Pentax Optio S. But I suppose it is common problem of most cameras with the small pixel size. Eventually the main problem with my camera is that it turned out broken after 3-4 monthes of using. Now most shots are strongly blurred, especially at the right side. I tried getting the warranty service, ...

Excellent images recorded by my A30, under all types of lighting conditions, whether the camera is left to make auto-decisions or is under manual control. The only reductions in quality result from deliberately experimenting with inappropriate exposure settings. I bought the A30 to supplement my much appreciated Pentax digital SLR; needing something lighter when on foot all day. I have not been disappointed. It did require some practice and careful study of the manual before I was able to ...

I got this as a take everywhere camera when I don't have my SLR.. I wanted something really pocket sized, but still capable..with full manual exposure and white balance settings. The A30 is tiny yet it has very pleasing image quality and the noise is fairly low for such a small camera. The default color processing is just right, not overdone. Photos in regular indoor lighting with no flash.. no problem. In manual mode, candle lit photos look nice.. noise is there but not too terrible. ...

I always was a supporter of Pentax cameras and i started to take photos more then 20 years ago with the reflex Pentax 30T. I was looking for a compat easy to care digital camera. I bought Optio A30 expecting stellar performances both for the price and the 10 Megapixel frame. I was surprised for the different behaviour with natural light and flash indoor. Outdoor photos are sharp with good details and warm colours. Indoor pictures are dark and grainy because camera automatically chooses high ...

Used camera for 7 days, after which had to return in to the shop. In comparison with Canon IXUS 800 IS this camera makes great night-time photos even if hold at hands (thanks to optical stabilizator and high-ISO mode). It also makes satistactory (although far from perfect) photos on sunny days. But if you make photos indoor or even outdoor on cloudy day, then you have to use flash. Without flash you have very noisy and unfocused images. I tried to set ISO to maximum 200, it wouldn't help, on ...

Excellent camera! The first Optio I have liked since the S5i (which I still have) Very good image quality, usable at 400 ISO, shake reduction that works very well, fits in the jeans pocket. I now take this one everywhere and am continually delighted by the images I produce with it. Highly recommended by me! Problems: None
