Excellent value for money. Obviously performances are not comparable to a reflex camera, but it ensures good prints at home till 20x30 cm. Problems: I'd love to have more possibilities of manual setups about expositions and times. Problem with the italian Pentax distributor, given that I've bought it on internet (from a French site, sharply less expensive !!) and it doesn't want recognize the European Guarantee (I don't have any problem till now). The European Pentax headquarters in germany ...

Fantastic camera! I've been using the 430rs for around 3 weeks now. I have to say I'm amazed at how many posters here have had problems with this camera. It is easy to use, picture quality is excellent and the amount of options/settings you can tweak can not be ignored. The image quality IS excellent. I have taken photos in good light, poor light, and night shots (including some fantastic lightning shots). The camera particulary excels in taking shots of objects. I can only guess that the ...

For its size - perhaps the key - this camera appears very good. You do have to be careful as the camera can be slow to focus. Screen display nice and sharp. Software appears very good and easy to use. Camera can have problems focussing in low light. Good camera for snaps, as size convenient, but probably not sufficient for professionals. Screen review display has improved over the 330 model. Problems: Very disapointed to find that this camera does not have the video out review facility that ...

I had tried several cameras, looking for a compact to take on trips without having to lug my digital SLR around. The 430RS did not offer the picture quality or speed that I needed. Compared to the 3MP Canon S230, the Pentax colors and general quality looked washed out. I thought the S230 did a much better job at flash lighting, and general color balance. The S230 was much faster in all areas. I did however like the 3X optical zoom on the Pentax (2X on the S230), and the ability to manually ...

Well... I've had this camera about a month now... In summary I was so dissapointed with the picture quality that after taking this up with Pentax support and getting an unhelpful response back I took the matter into my own hands and created a web-site to show people how bad the picture quality is... You can see for yourself at www.pentax-optio.com Rich Problems: Extremely poor picture quality. Focussing problems. Barrelling. Noise in the picture. Bad image compression. Bad light metering. You ...

Super small, excellent images IF you set sharpness to none and ISO to 200. The added noise at ISO 200 is more than made up for on the whole by the sharper shots from smaller aperture /higher shutter speed at ISO 200. Pentax's noise reduction is too severe and reduces image quality if set at sharpness normal, at none the images are much smoother AND sharper. Excellent flash range, good exposure at 7 metres. 3D is more than a gimmick, quite impresive even just on monitor with viewer placed on ...

be warned Folks, My first impression of this digital camera was very good. This is very convenient to use, very small -fits in my pants pocket- and the screen interface is user friendly even if it's quite small. I tried the camera for seven days-trial and decide finaly to get rid of it. As a matter of fact the pictures quality is not very good. I took almost 400 pictures in good condition (blue sky and sun) and didn't manage to get a sharp landscape picture.. All this pictures were very bad ...

Terrible feeling after having had the 430 (not RS) for months: the image quality is very poor compared to the 430 not RS one. The Jpg files of the RS are 40% bigger than the "not RS" ones, even if the quality is very poor. Wonderful "low-dark light focus" (improved a lot on the RS). The LCD display is too bright and let you think you did a good photo while you actually didn't. N.B: you can't setup the brightness of it. Totally disappointed about this camera compared to the not RS one. Problems: ...

Excellent value for money. I used the Optio 330 for nearly 7 months already. The 430RS beats it by image quality, new features and serious improvements such as battery life. Focus problems are nearly solved. Manual options are huge. You can really go semi-pro with this cam and do serious photographing. The limit is your talent. Very solid body. Perfect underwater case available for just 200$ down to 30 feet. What does one want more. Cannot agree to the first review written here. Bear in mind ...

Hallo! Iif you can German, then you can read my full review of this camera here Within a week I woult publish it also in english in this forum. My impresison of this camera briefly: Very inaccurate Autofocus systes + vary bad picture quality (even in the FINE-mode) resulted by JPEG-compression. A lot of 2 and 3 MP cameras produce much better picture quality.
