Pentax's Optio 33L camera has a handy swivelling LCD (180 degress-it can be at the top, face the back of thr camera for example), 3.2MP and unique 3D image mode. The zoom lens is a Pentax 3x (38-114mm) which is quite sharp and no sign of barrel distortion or chromatic aberration. Scene modes include surf and snow, sktech (makes the captured image look like a illustration),digital filter (add interesting color effects-eg. B&W+red, sepia and so on), atuo bracketing-including the usual exposure ...

I took this camera on an around-the-world trip in 2004, spanning such extreme places as Siberia, Egypt, Vietnam, China and France. During this trip, the camera accompanied me on a variety of activities, such as skiing in the Alps, hiking in the Himalayas and sea kayaking southeast Asia, and kept on shooting. The camera finally died this summer in Alaska, during a 3 hour ice climb, when I insisted on taking pictures in subzero weather in the pouring rain. The speed of the camera is not ...

Just bought one for my son for his school trip abroad. The camera was on a special at warehouseexpress at £79 so did a bit of research and decided to go for it!! Got to admit the driving factors were manufacturer, compact flash (got lots of it) and AA batteries, I use 2000/2300 Nickel hidrides. Great focus, colours a bit flat but well balanced and Idiot proof. Tremendous flexibility with swiveling LCD and great value. The flash new models are seductive but many a good tune has been played on ...

This is a excellent digital camera of great value that tends to slip through the attention and interest of most people due to its traditional camera appearance. Actually, I never noticed this camera until my friend's recommewndation (he has been a photo shopkeeper for over 20 years). I bought 33L based upon his recommendation and love it immediately. Pros: Using least expensive CF memory card. AA size battery (vital to copnvenience when travel abroad). Swivel LCD screen enables me to shoot ...

Problems: None

Great camera as a second. I use it as a carry-around. I am amazed at the picture quality and features, especially the manual overrides at this price and class. Only downside is the lack of an optical viewfinder - but thats not too bad.

I was between this one, the Optio S and the Canon A70. I´ve chosen this one cause it was the cheapest. The mobile screen becomes really handy in every situation. Also great functions like 3D and panorama, very rare in this type of cameras. I trusted Pentax with the lense, cause I´ve been using Pentax SLR & lenses almost all my life and I must say, most are of very good quality, but this one isnt SMC, and quality could be better(I may have expected too much of it..). Macro is very good. ...

I have a G2 but bought the 33L for carrying in a jacket pocket to use while motorcycling & trailriding. Previously I used an Ixus/Elf for this but found it too small/fiddly. After a few months use the 33L suits me in all respects for this purpose EXCEPT the screen Vs viewfinder thing (see below). Problems: The lack of optical viewfinder is a major PITA in outdoors bright sunlight such that I have GREAT difficulty composing landscape shots. For this reason the unit comes with a clip-in screen ...

I bought this camera as a carry around. The best feature is the swivel and tilt viewfinder that can even be turned around for self portraits. This camera produces very nice pictures, as good as my Canon G3 and at half the cost I find this to be a real bargain. My only wish would be it had a 2.0 lens. Problems: none

This camera was the last result of buying digital cameras and going back and forth to the store to trade for another. I was unsatisified with certain draw backs I just couldn't live with that most digital cameras had. For instance. I purchased a fujifilm finepix 6x zoom 3800 camera. I found the macro quality to be excellent, but the camera's lcd screen was HORRIBLE in low light conditions, that also meant I could not take pictures properly inside the house. There were other negatives, but ...
