This is a good point-and-shoot camera. Outdoor images are very good but indoor images are usually under exposed. The Optio230 flash is only good within 2m. I had a chance to compare this camera with the Canon A70 and Sony DSC-P72 in the same shooting situations. To my surprise, the Optio230 had no red-eye problem while the A70 and DSC-P72 got some red-eye pictures under the same shooting situations. In indoor test with flash, the Optio230 color was more natural than the A70 and DSC-P72. I ...

I bought this camera something over a year ago. Its self-portrait mode is really fun; every point'n'shoot camera should have a similar mode. The 3D mode is pure gimick; it was fun playing with it for a while but I never got it to work anywhere near as well as the example in the manual. Don't buy the camera for the 3D mode, but do have a little fun trying to use it if you already have the camera. The auto white balance is completely unable to handle incandescent light; if you're taking ...

I have have been living with my Pentax 230 now for around 12 months after moving over from an Olympus Z900 due to drop damage. The Pentax 230 has been a good camera with image quality average to good (not on par with the Olympus), the controls are easy to use and the up loading of pictures through Win XP is exellent. The night shot mode has been very useful having gained some very nice low noise shots, the only limitation is the maximum shutter time of 4 sec. The multi function mode is ...

I had that camera now about 3 months and I like use that. Easy to use and appearance is fine. I think that was good purchase in that price range of digicameras. I assume now that my next digicamera will be Pentax too. Problems: Maybe longer shutter speed could be good

I got this camera 1 month ago and very happy so far. Paid around $265 us (including an extra 128mb CF card). I was looking for good quality inexpensive point and shoot lightweight camera and Optio 230 fits the bill. Shot close to 300 pix so far. Colors and resolution are very good in Auto mode for daytime shots. Indoor shots require white balance adjusted to the approriate lighting type. Macro photos turn out very clear. 180" LCD flip out allows to do good self-portraits. Problems: LCD hard ...

After setting my heart on the Fuji 2800 and its 6x optical zoom (and having to return it because the digital viewfinder is useless) I felt I was settling for second best with the Optio. Obvously, the 230's ability to get up close wasn't going to be a patch on the Fuji. Image quality is probably slightly less well defined than the Fuji, but is certainly superior to the Kodak DC215 that it's replacing. The 230 does however suffer from worse than average stepping when it comes to thin, highly ...

This is one of the best 2m pixel cameras i've come accross. I've been searching long and hard to replace a 35mm SLR with a decent digital camera, within a certain price bracket. This camera didn't have manual overides but the control of the focus and the lightmeter was just supperb. Image quality was of the highest standards and Zoom & focus quite fast. Pentax were a bit late in the digital race but I belive they have a overall winner in this price bracket. The macro facility worked very ...
