In the next few months I will be going to Botswana to do a bit of camping. The only major problem I will encounter is a lack of electricity. To counter this either I need to spend money on a solar panal recharger to charge up my camera batteries and that will cost me a few hundreds, or put this money towards buying additional batteries.  The way I look at things I will be taking a storage device to store my JPEGS but most of the time this device(ipad) will be off and the only reason why I...

My (well maybe) E-M1 arrived late this afternoon and I have a couple of questions and a few observations.... The way my hand wraps around the grip reminds me of the D7000 grip and Imy hand feels a little crampy.  Worried if this is actually going to be an ergonomic issue after holding the camera for a while. Anyone else feel this and have a solution? On the GH(2,3,4) the monitor screen reverses so there's no danger of damaging the display while it's folded away.  The screen on the E1 is...

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has had experience shooting with a focal reducer of any kind and has actually adapted other lenses to use on a focal reducer. Allow me to explain further if I have not been very clear. I recently got my hands on a Panasonic GH3, having been a T3i/600D shooter for 3 years. I use vintage glass to shoot with (Vivitar 24mm, Mir 1-B, Olympus OM 50mm f/1.4, Helios 44-2, Jupiter 9, Hoya 135mm f/2.8) for a vast array of reasons, the main one being budget. I plan to...

I sat down recently to try and do some tethered shooting with Adobe Lightroom and my GH3 after finding out about tethered shooting.  I think I had know about it before, but never saw the usefulness until I was asked to shoot some products on tabletop.  So I setup my laptop, GH3, and of course lightroom doesn't recognize it.  It doesn't even support cameras outside of Canon/Nikkon (and I think one more).  Turns out...there's no information I can find on this out there other than the...

I've had my GH3 for almost a year now, and I've been very impressed with it's battery life and so I put off the almost $200 battery grip because I never needed it.  I'll be recording a live event here within the next two weeks, however, and I now have a need for it only...I think the battery grip turns out to just be a battery holder.  Which brings up some questions. a: the first just to make sure; is it a battery holder only and has no battery included with it? b: if it is a battery holder...

Hi again; I think this will be my third thread I've started and everyone here has been extremely helpful in the previous two; all have been questions.I'll start off with a bit of backstory, though the first paragraph or so is skippable; I'll do a double line break when I pitch my question so you don't have to pick through words if you don't want to.-So I got into photography (serious photography; there are some android apps that allow you to do some pretty cool things with the on-board camera...

Well for weeks the question of wether I should add an Oly camera to kit and replace my GH-3 with an OM-D- em1.  I'm focusing (or obsessing) on lenses and have a stabilization question. The Panny system for the most part has in lens stabilization while the Oly system has in camera stabilization.  So...an Oly lens on a  GH has no stabilization.  But when you put a Panny stabilized lens on an Oly is there ever a technical conflict between the in camera stabilization and in lens stabilization or...

Looking for an affordable external flash that is compatible with my GH3, any suggestions? I'm looking for anything that is under $50 price range, it can be TTL or manual.  --- YK

Looking for some recommendations for a reasonably compact wide angle prime, primarily for landscape/travel photography. As much as I would love the Zeiss 16-35 f4, it's a little out of my budget, and I doubt I'll need that much coverage in the wider range (you're welcome prove me wrong though!). So far I'm getting the 55mm 1.8 and the standard kit zoom (28-70mm), but since this is my first foray into 35mm after owning a GH3, I'm most looking forward the world of wide angles. Worth noting is...
