Yet another compromise from Panasonic! The G1 does a pretty good job in combining the size / ease of use of a compact camera with the features of an SLR; the GH1 adds another dimension in the form of video. Essentially, it is the very same camera with all the other advantages and shortcomings of the G1. Unfortunately, Panasonic have not implemented any improvements other than using a larger sensor to make better use of the image circle, which is very welcome and something I missed on the G1. ...

Very nice step between compact camera and full DSLR. Problems: AF assist lamp is often blocked by left hand used to set zoom or MF.

Aparat uzywam od miesiąca. Wykonałem około 5000 zdjęć i kilka godzin filmów. Jeszcze nie zdążyłem rozpoznać wszystkich opcji. Wspaniałe narzędzie do wyjazdów dzięki opcji kręcenia fimów HD. Filmy rzeczywiście świetnej jak na aparat jakości. Na początku nie mogłem się przyzwyczaić do jego małych rozmiarów ale z biegiem czasu przyzwyczaiłem się. Udało mi się zakupić ...

Crack! that's the sound of Panasonic crushing this one out of the park. I am an amateur and I couldn't tell you the difference between good quality and exceptional quality. But I do know crap and my canon SD870, Flip MinoHD and an old JVC DV camcorder are crap and take crappy videos and pictures compared to my new GH1. If your not a professional and you just want to pics and vids of your friends and family this is the best single camera device on the market. Don't sleep on the idea of a ...

If your previous camera is a DSLR, you'll have some issues with this camera. If your previous camera is any point and shoot, even prosumer, you'll be VERY impressed with this camera. Excellent package for stills and video. Don't need multiple lenses (the 14-140, 10x lens it comes with is great.) Digital viewfinder is so good, you forget it's digital sometimes. Price is high, but as dpreview points out, the lens is about half the cost. (but worth it). Only complaint: Can't all the camera ...

Price is 2 times expensive than competitor and 3rd party battery is not compatible. The battery time is short and it does not allow me use 3rd party battery which is 30% + capacity! Waste money, I doubt Panasonic has put some time bomb in the battery chip so it can ask you pay and pay. Problems: 1, over priced 2, short battery life (and use of time) 3, chiped battery that not allow use of more capacity and lower priced 3rd party battery

What is going on with the GH1? Why can't I buy one? Is there some reason Panasonic does not want to sell this camera to Americans? It seems to be available everywhere else. Problems: I cannot find a GH1 to buy. It seems to be a great camera. Come on, Panasonic, sell it to America.

After using my Japanese GH1 for over a month, 20,000+ photos, and a few hours of video, I've found it to be a very solid camera / HD camcorder. Very briefly, some major points I would emphasize about the camera: - Very easy to use (especially with the auto mode, face detection and continuous auto-focus in video mode). Would be a great camera for someone transitioning into DSLRs from a point and shoot, except its current price is much too high. - Very good EVF / Live View LCD, though those ...
