If anyone own either, can you tell me either the weight you put on the ball head, or the equipment put in it (so I can look up the weight)? Why I am asking: Have the later, and put a little over a pound load on it; rated load is 22 lbs.  Reviews on Amazon and B&H, are mixed.  Were the bad reviews from user error? Thinking mid-size DSLR, zoom lens, and collar; camera + lens ~ 6 lbs, plus the weight of the collar.

I configure the E-PL5 movie mode to M, manually select aperture and shutter speed, and the AF mode to AF-S.  However, when I shoot video (kids making a mess in the bath room) in low light using the Panasonic 20/1.7 lens, I seem to still see focusing "breathing," if that is the correct term for the lens to momentarily lose focus and refocuses.  I double checked the AF-mode and confirmed that it is AF-S.  Does anyone else notice this?  On GH1, once focus is locked, I usually switch the focus...

Panasonic has beefed up its microphone/headphone jack to 3.5mm. But I'm having a hard time finding a remote shutter release that fits: the ones advertised work with GH1 and GH2, but Panasonic has changed its jack for the GH3.I'm not concerned that it is a Panasonic remote control, but I also don't want to spend a fortune. Help appreciated! Thanks!!

I currently have a GH3 with 100/300 as my carry about birding camera... I also have a Canon 7D with 500 F4 (way to heavy to carry about but superb combo)... I am debating whether to get a GH3 body to upgrade because the GH1 is too slow to focus, only 3 fps burst.. and 12 MP... Should I do that or spend the same amount of money on a Canon 100-400 F4.5 L lens to go with the 7D I already have....I am really stumped here.. I know the 7D combo will be good but its a lot bigger and heavier that the...

hi all-every once in a while beautiful birds roost in a dead pine across the lake from my house, and i shoot them with my gh1 and sigma 400mm f5.6, as shown below:lately, i've added a canon 2x teleconverter to get closer - haven't got any worthwhile shots with it, probably due to a broken tripod that needed to be replaced.now, i have a panny G5, which has the extended teleconverter feature.  so my question is, would i be better off using this feature (at a maximum resolution of 8mp), or...

Hi All.Hopefully someone can help me.I’ve had this annoying problem for a very long time but have not been able to find a solution or indeed if it's normal operation. On my GH1 take for example if I'm in either P, A or M modes. Now if I use any of the buttons ISO, WB, Fn or AF mode they all just go in the AF Area mode selection!...E.g., pressing the ISO button, will bring up the AF Area Mode selection, (not the ISO selection)If I change the focus mode to Manual, then the ISO, WB and Fn buttons...

Like a lot of OM-D users i have a problem with the MYSET functions . Choosing the right selections  for wildlife  photography I am breaking my head over now. Also using the Mapping of the Custom Button Functions which I found via this site makes it even harder. It's just a bit too much .I must admit ..that I have bought this camera perhaps a bit too fast for the amount of possibilities the camera has. But until know I don't regret it at all....especially using the stabilization is...

I've had the Oly 14-54 MKII for a while and it has served well with GH1 and GH2 but now since I bought Oly OM-D, I'm looking for a smaller lens with similar performance. So my question is that, is there a good m4/3 substitute for that lens currently available (or coming soon)?

I'm considering an upgrade from the GH1 to the G5.  Usually I try to avoid the "new toy" syndrome and try to upgrade only where I feel there might be a tangible improvement in image quality and/or ergonomics.  On this basis, I upgraded from a Canon P&S to an FZ50 and thence to a GH1.  I do not do movies.  Otherwise I do like to try my hand at a variety of other subjects -- such as street casuals, landscapes, travel, macros, BIF and, most importantly, grandchildren.  (I suppose at some stage I...

i am looking to upgrade my gh1, and the gh2 and g5 are the candidates.  does anyone have firsthand knowledge of the comparative high iso capabilities of these cameras?  i am growing impatient waiting for dpreview to complete a full review of the g5 so i can see the difference for myself.  i did check out the studio comparison tool for the gh2 and g3 at raw 3200, and they seemed very similar - not sure if g5 is supposed to be improved in this area over g3, however.many thanks in advance!
