I'm also torn between GX7 and E-M1. I've been using Panny and like the form factor of GX7. One big lure of E-M1, though, is its faster C-AF with PDAF. But since I'm not going to shoot pro sports or motor sports, C-AF fast enough to track running kids will be good enough. Does GX7 have C-AF that is good enough to track running kids? By way of comparison, with my GH1, I have about 20-30% keeper rate on running kids at a soccer game.

http://www.spiderholster.com/black-widow-holster.html I've been using the same camera strap I used with my GH1 for many years but I'm finding the strap is a more awkward due to the GX7's smaller size.  I have the original 14-140 lens and even though this is not a compact lens it looks like the Black WIdow would be OK with it. --Birk Binnardwww.birkbinnard.com/photography;

I was planning to buy OMD but I ended up waiting a bit and now the new PEN is out. What is the pros and cons of the external view finder compared to GH1's built in view finder? I don't think I can live without the view finder. or should I wait for the next OMD? I take portraits, kids food and landscapes.

I've just read many threads on this digital video forum, with the wonderfully informative posts. An amazing forum. But the answer to my question eludes me. I'm a staff photographer shooting field ecology research, wilderness land management activities, and wildlife. The org now wants video as well as stills, but the problem is, nothing can be staged. I need to capture top quality stills and compelling video of the same decisive moments, cinema veritae of the field workers when something...

If anyone own either, can you tell me either the weight you put on the ball head, or the equipment put in it (so I can look up the weight)? Why I am asking: Have the later, and put a little over a pound load on it; rated load is 22 lbs.  Reviews on Amazon and B&H, are mixed.  Were the bad reviews from user error? Thinking mid-size DSLR, zoom lens, and collar; camera + lens ~ 6 lbs, plus the weight of the collar.

I configure the E-PL5 movie mode to M, manually select aperture and shutter speed, and the AF mode to AF-S.  However, when I shoot video (kids making a mess in the bath room) in low light using the Panasonic 20/1.7 lens, I seem to still see focusing "breathing," if that is the correct term for the lens to momentarily lose focus and refocuses.  I double checked the AF-mode and confirmed that it is AF-S.  Does anyone else notice this?  On GH1, once focus is locked, I usually switch the focus...

Panasonic has beefed up its microphone/headphone jack to 3.5mm. But I'm having a hard time finding a remote shutter release that fits: the ones advertised work with GH1 and GH2, but Panasonic has changed its jack for the GH3.I'm not concerned that it is a Panasonic remote control, but I also don't want to spend a fortune. Help appreciated! Thanks!!

I currently have a GH3 with 100/300 as my carry about birding camera... I also have a Canon 7D with 500 F4 (way to heavy to carry about but superb combo)... I am debating whether to get a GH3 body to upgrade because the GH1 is too slow to focus, only 3 fps burst.. and 12 MP... Should I do that or spend the same amount of money on a Canon 100-400 F4.5 L lens to go with the 7D I already have....I am really stumped here.. I know the 7D combo will be good but its a lot bigger and heavier that the...

hi all-every once in a while beautiful birds roost in a dead pine across the lake from my house, and i shoot them with my gh1 and sigma 400mm f5.6, as shown below:´╗┐lately, i've added a canon 2x teleconverter to get closer - haven't got any worthwhile shots with it, probably due to a broken tripod that needed to be replaced.now, i have a panny G5, which has the extended teleconverter feature.  so my question is, would i be better off using this feature (at a maximum resolution of 8mp), or...
