Can anyone confirm or deny that the new SAL70300G2 optics have been "upgraded" compared to the old SAL70300G optics? According to the Sony USA website, the "new" Sony 70-300mm f4.5-5.6 G SSM II has two ED elements with an optical configuration of 16 elements in 12 groups while the "old" Sony 70-300mm f4.5-5.6 G SSM has only one ED element with an optical configuration of 16 elements in 11 groups. Having checked many websites which talk about the new SAL70300G2 including other Sony websites, I...

Camera vibration and jello issues happened frequently to some video cameras, especially GoPro and other action cameras. Absolutely, aerial cinematography can't avoid this problem. This issue is mainly caused by the rolling shutter effect, the down side of the modern sensors, the wind conditions, exposures, flight speed, rotor condition, and the running Gear. I made some researches about how to eliminate camera vibration during aerial shooting and got known that a camera supporting equipment...

I'm trying to develop my backup strategy for several vacations this year. I plan to take enough SD cards that I will not have to delete any until I get home, so they will be my primary storage.  The question is what to use as my secondary? I will not have my laptop, and my iPad is not big enough to store everything.   I will shoot in RAW (Canon 7DmII and Canon SL1) I will not have access to regular internet, so cloud storage isn't a factor What I've settled on is a Kingston MobileLite G2 as...

Hi I'm going to Africa on a wildlife holiday in June. I have a Lumix G2 and a 200mm lens but I don't think this set up is good enough for wildlife photos.  I'm thinking of two alternatives:    - hiring a 300mm lens to put on the G2    - buying a Lumix fz1000. Option 1 is by far the cheaper of course, albeit much more inconvenient. Buying a new camera is much more expensive but more convenient and gives some extra telephoto capability. Could anyone advise me or suggest an alternative please?...

I'm hooked on birding, currently using a Nikon 500 P f4 manual focus on my a6000.  I get good results on still subjects, but I'm not capable of using this on BIF.  I realize some folks take amazing photos with this combo, but I'd really like something that will autofocus. I have purchased a A77II, and am researching the Sony 70-400mm F4-5.6 G SSM II vs the Minolta AF 400mm f/4.5 APO So,...I'm asking for opinions from those of you that may have experience with these two lenses and camera...

Hi I just picked up my new 70-400 G2 today,  I am of course over the moon with my new lens and as its always the case when new class arrives it is surely raining cats and dogs in Copenhagen today. So I am spending day setting up a Memory set for use with this lens on my A77II. My question - do you (owners lenses with Focus Hold buttons) keep the Focus Hold function of the buttons on the lens barrel or do you remap them to a different function, if so what function and why? Do you use the...

Has anyone used this particular monitor for photo editing? There is a really good price on Newegg ($109). If not good, any suggestions for a good monitor in similar price range?

Hello Everyone, I am going to visit the underground river in Palawan, Philippines seeing stalagmites, stalactites. It is now one of the 7 wonders of the world. I have the Panasonic G2 that I bought in 2010. The cave is 1.5 km, very dark with just the aid of one flashlight for a group of 6 people. Should I buy another camera that can take lowlight or no light conditions? A lens for my G2 or a flash?  Bringing a DSLR is not really an option for this trip. Thanks! I am just a casual photographer.

Third of three questions I'm posting. I am very deaf and can barely hear phone calls. I currently have an iPhone 4S and I use two hearing aids and find it best to remove one and press the iPhone against the ear. I have 90-100% high frequency hearing loss, between 50% and 70% mid frequency loss and around 10-25% low frequency loss. I can't find in any reviews a proper review of how good the actual phone receiving sound is on various phones. Does anyone know if one phone has a better sound than...
