I know this has already been debated here but explain it to me (please) as if I was really dumb. I have the FE35 and FE55 lenses on my A7 and it's a great experience each time I pick them up for a photowalk, but I want a 24-70 (not the newly rumoured G24-70 2.8 that will cost both my kidneys or the sony 28-70 or even the 16-35 zeiss zoom). The problem is the mixed reviews everyone has heard about. I know the complaints about the 24 and 70 focal lenghts but I tried one and think it's great ......

I am going on safari to Botswana in March/April. It will be my first time and I want to make sure I bring all the right gear. I need some advice from people who have already been on Safari in Africa (preferably Botswana). I already have my main kit sorted: A7II + Sony 70-400 G2 A7 + Batis 25/2 Now I'm wondering what else to bring, thinking about shooting in low light or at night, or having a lighter option with me. Here are my questions: I just picked up the 70-400. From my first...

Hi folks,  are much reading and ebay surfing, I have not been able to make an intelligent choice on a new flash.  I have a 7D, and an old 420EX speedlight that I bought for my G2 in 2001.  I have used the flash for years but have now come up against the fact it has no manual control. I recently bought a used umbrella and light stand.  My current goal is to take better portraits for a few baseball teams that I help out with.  I have been looking at the various Yonguo models since I have no...

I'm thinking my current main montior(of my two) is starting to need replacing, it's an Acer 23". I just saw an ad today from Newegg, for an Acer G256HL for $20 off, so 130. I'm wondering if this would be a good deal, or if I should see what comes along on Black Friday, or Cyber Monday for something better.

Hi, PICKED UP A used 70-400mm G2, compared it to a new 70-400 G2 and compared it to the older silver 70-400mm G1.  Optically they're the same - hard to tell the difference.  The G2 is much better finding focus.  I am very happy with the G2. When I put the Sony tele 1.4x on, I lost autofocus capabilities.  Is this normal or do I have a faulty 1.4x?  Optically it's pretty nice - zoom lens doesn't seem to loose much in contrast and resolution. Any input would be appreciated.  I tried it on...

Hi Would love some help from anyone who has mastered how to use Google Photos. Having decided to use cloud based storage after my expensive dedicated back up hard drive crashed irretrievably, I started storing my photos on Google Drive. This seemed to work fine until some started to migrate of their own accord into random albums on something called Google Photos. So being the good little Google person that I am, I did what I was clearly being encouraged to do and transferred everything onto...

I am an a6000 owner and will soon get an A7II. I have four questions about going from crop to full-frame camera: 1) With Sony’s APS-C lenses, like the 10-18mm, the 18-105mm and 18-200mm, must I set the A7II to crop mode? 2) (this may depend on the answer to my previous question): Will those non-FE lenses function as true 10-18mm lenses, or will they still have the 1.5x multiplier applied to the focal length? 3) What is the preferred Sony A-mount adapter to use with the A7II? I own both the...

Question about OVF focus for XPro1 owners- Three days ago I picked up a very nice EX+ used XPro1, after shooting with it for a few days I have noticed that there seems to be a consistent focus issue when using the OVF to focus. It looks as if the OVF confirms focus (green square) but when I fire the shutter the image seems to not be focused on anything, and in fact it looks almost like it is blurred. This is all using the AF-S single point auto focus setting. Also I am using the 35mm, which I...

I own a GX7, my first MFT camera and LOVE it as my carry around street photography camera for it's size and image quality. Replaces my old CONTAX G2 rangefinder film camera. I am a now semi-retired pro photographer after a 40 year career and have many other cameras and strobe kits. Dynalights for studio and Norman portable for exterior flash lighting. I NEVER liked on camera flash lighting. Anyway I got an assignment to shoot some portraits for a film magazine and thought I'd use my GX7 with...
